two words...

FLEA MARKET!!

Go to the buyers... they are at the flea markets/swap meets.
I'm willing to bet that you'll have much more success.

The kids can still be much involved... they can even take little breaks
and look around for more crap to bring home, too!

My mother has one every spring and fall. The whole neighborhood does as a matter of fact.

We're having one with Tom's grandma this spring/summer. I cannot believe the amount of s#!+ he has in this house! We're loading up the curb every weekend with the trash-able stuff, and the garage is already half-full.

And if anyone wants a beer can collection, let me know.

Oh holy mother!! MI has the BEST recycling law. I think it's like ten cents. A whole episode of Seinfeld revolved around it or something.

It is ten cents a can, but these are "collectible" cans- like the Steel City Brew one for the 79 Pirates, others with unpopped pop tops, that sort of junk. They're going on Ebay. If we had room for a bar, he would keep them (some of them are cool), but they've been in a box in his basement, untouched, for the last 6 years- it's time to say goodbye!

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but an old co-worker of mine has the best garage sale story....

Years ago, this guy worked with a bunch of people who loved playing pranks on each other. He usually out-did everyone, but one day his co-workers got revenge on him. They picked a nice spring weekend, and decided that Joe was going to have a garage sale; he just didn't know about it. They put ads in the local papers, put up signs in the neighborhood, the whole deal. People were knocking on his door at 7:30am wanting to see the stuff for sale, and he had NO IDEA what they were talking about.
