How much do you pay for a haircut and style?

Nothing - either cut it myself, or have a friend or family member do it

Shave and a haircut, 2 bits

Post by Tiki Bar »

How much do you normally spend on a haircut, before tip? If you regularly include wash, blowdry, etc, indicate as such.

If I pay 2 bits, they're very BIG bits!!

$15 and I think that is a little too much, but I the lady who cuts it is really nice and she does a good job so I pay it.

By the way, I did try to do "under $10" options, but I was over-polling and giving too many possible answers!

VERY impressive poll there, JoAnn!! :o

I'm a $12.95 at "Hair Scruples" or "Fantastic Sams" or "Supercuts". It's sooo easy to trim 1/2" from mine, that I don't need/want anything 'fancy'. :)

I usually give myself a flat top but I'm in the process of letting my hair grow long again.
Today I had what the lady called a "neck trim" for 5 bucks.
I tipped 2 bucks because she rubbed against me...
seriously, she was nice and my brother or wife would have just hacked me up trying to do it

I don't think I've spent $52.00 on my hair this year.
That includes haircuts, shampoo, etc.

I pay a lot, but I have been with the same guy for 30 years now. It is getting even more expensive, as he has moved to Geneva Illinois which is about 50 miles away from where I live. But I don't go all that often, and he is a longtime friend, so I still do it.

Can't tell you what the haircut costs because he paints it at the same time, and I only know the total.

I typically just get it cut, not styled. I do that when I get home. I also get a cellophane to deep condition it...been doing that forever and I have very healthy hair. I think both run me about 45 bucks now...and worth every penny. I have a ton of hair, it takes forever to cut, and I appreciate having someone who knows exactly what my hair is like and takes care of it accordingly. She's also great about fitting me in whenever I need an appointment, and I've been going to her for about 15 years now. That will be the worst part about moving, having to find a new hair stylist. :-?

That reminds me...I need to get my bangs trimmed.

I agree! good options!

I'm in a stage where I'm keeping the hair pretty short, so experimenting with the clippers is kinda fun. If I mess up, I just go shorter.

Can someone explain to me what a bit is? Seriously.

The Spanish milled dollars were easily cut apart into equal "bits" of 8 pieces. One "bit" would be equal to 1/8 of a dollar, and 2 bits would equal 2/8 (or 1/4 - a quarter of a dollar). So, it is easy to see why the coins were called "pieces of eight", and "2 bits" was commonly used to refer to 25 cents.

I go to a place in the shopping concourse under the building where I work, it's $25. I used to go to a place on LI and they charged $15 but about 3 or 4 years ago they started requiring appointments. I don't get home the same time every night so I looked for a place I could go to during the day.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
