I'll pony a few bucks to stave off the potential of hearing him sing "Big Rig" ever in concert... You might be on to something here! Channeling charitable donations to get him to remove songs or add songs to the setlist!! He could do a song per week!

I could never understand why anyone would come to a Buffett site to talk about politics. I wouldn't go to ihategeorgewbush.com or billclintonloveshummers.com to talk about Jimmy Buffett.LittleMrMagic wrote:Politico's don't really make it too far at all on this site, regardless of how passionately they stand behind their views, or even how educated (or how well researched) that view may be.

Walmart does indeed need to boost its profits. They should do it by cutting wages and health care (oh wait they can't). How about by discriminating against anyone who is overweight because they will be out of work more often statistically? Oops...they already covered that too. How about by being the largest distributor of groceries....got that done. Lets see....maybe they can be the lowest wage pay in China (yep they even drove wages down there).

I'll die before I seperate myself from my SUV. Ban aircraft first and I will gladly forever park my SUV and hand my keys over to the first liberal wacko with a wrecking lot. Aircraft of any sort are the real gashogs. . . marinecraft as well. SUVs are simply the representation of American excess to the extreme radical liberal. The same ones that would probably never set foot out of their big, blue state cities for fear of the forests that surround them.jbfins wrote:I have never shopped at a Walmart and never will. Those SUVs come in real handy in those big scary forests! Like trudging offroad through them to the best fishing spots. Oh and I'm (not really) sorry to say, if I catch something, it ain't going back. It's dinner!!!
By the way. . . here are some interesting fuel consumption figures for you. . .
Kaman Kamax Helicopter 300gph (gallons per hour) consumption
Sikorsky S-92 Helicopter 360gph
Agusta 109 (think Jurassic Park) 80gph
Boeing 747 3700gph (does it really, absolutely, positively, have to be there overnight?)
Queen Elizabeth II - 403.5 TONS per hour to her NINE 9 cylinder engines, or roughly 433 TONS per day. This is equal to six of the ship's swimming pools. One gallon of fuel will move the ship 49.5 feet

Serious question here....so where are you buying those goods and services that aren't manufactured (or supported) in some third world country?LittleMrMagic wrote:I agree about WalMart. They are destroying the American economy, selling it out daily to the interest of the Chinese government and other third world countries. . . and yes, I do refuse to shop there.
I just picked up every item on my desk and did not find a single one manufactured in the U.S. with the exception of my DELL computer CPU (can't tell)...although the monitor was made in Mexico.

But this person didn't come to a Buffett site "just to talk about politics". This thread is about Buffett's involvement with Wal-Mart and Sam's Club through a promotional campaign for the movie Hoot.LIPH wrote:I could never understand why anyone would come to a Buffett site to talk about politics. Funny but true, I was in Antigua (West Indies) and bought a T-shirt, it was made in the USA! How ironic. I can't get one here made here.MikeInNOLA wrote:Serious question here....so where are you buying those goods and services that aren't manufactured (or supported) in some third world country?LittleMrMagic wrote:I agree about WalMart. In any case, just because this is a Buffett board it doesn't mean politics should be off-limits. Nearly every band oriented board I frequent also has a an Off Topic section because if discussion were limited only to the artist at hand things would grow stale very quick, especially if said artist is inactive at the time.Tiki Bar wrote:I think he was referring to LittleMrMagic's comments about politics on BN... not Dan's original post.Jahfin wrote:But this person didn't come to a Buffett site "just to talk about politics". Shoot, get the NIMBY's who are protesting the conversion of a K-Mart to a Wal*Mart in my town to let Wal*Mart in and I would. As it is now, I will be headed to one of the more enviromentally concious sites of Target, Circuit City or BestBuy to make my purchase.jbfinscj wrote:So who else is purchasing their copy of "Hoot" at Wal Mart next week???

My point exactly...unless you purchase the album at a little "mom and pops" record store, all of the major retailers are guilty of saturating the market. Wal Mart just managed to do it quicker and bigger then everyone else. To be honest where I live I have a Target and a Circuit City right next to one another. The Wal Mart is about a 1/2 a mile down the road from these two stores. I will always check in Target before I go to Wal Mart, but I will shop at Wal Mart if needed.
I'm back to livin' Floridays

An enviromental impact moment! You just saved me 1/10th of a gallon of gas by knocking Target off my list! But, I could have saved 1/2 gallon if Wal*Mart was allowed in our town....go figure.SchoolGirlHeart wrote:I think another thread said Target wasn't carrying it, Mike.MikeInNOLA wrote:Shoot, get the NIMBY's who are protesting the conversion of a K-Mart to a Wal*Mart in my town to let Wal*Mart in and I would. I agree when said discussions are civil and respectful. However, based on what I see, they never remain that way. Instead, they become heated and / or insulting, which is not the intent of this board.Jahfin wrote:In any case, just because this is a Buffett board it doesn't mean politics should be off-limits. There are multiple thousands of other topics that can be discussed, without worrying about growing stale. However, I'm certain people probably disagree with me about that.
