Seriously?!? If so, that just doesn't seem right...

Ok, going for the blank out to see for myself: cobo.org, ************.com , jimmydreamz.com ?
It is due to a specific incident, where some of the BW folks intentionally came over to BN with a smear campaign including the line "best Buffett site on the net", to which phjim took offense, deservedly so in my opinion.
So instead of confining the incident to the people responsible, the entire site was held responsible and therefore can't be mentioned at all here. That is a bunch of BS, in my opinion.
Well, it was many people, and there was a thread on BW with many more saying "look what I'm going to go do at BN." It was the least time consuming method, and it worked.
While that behavior was uncalled for and childish at best I'm not sure what good it does to ban the saying of Buffett W o r l d from this site.

Ya know, I used to listed to RM on the computer before they went to Sirius, and it's not quite the same as it used to be. Anyone else notice that? That said, RM keeps me calm in traffic, and I do like the variety, which is why I don't have a CD Changer full of Buffett in the truck. If you wanted Buffett all day long, just buy a bunch of CD's, convert them to MP3's on your ipod. You'd be better off price wise I believe in the log run. RM has exposed me to other groups I'd not have heard before, that I really like.
I liked the old style of RM before Sirius it was a more open style of music (early FM) but it is the only station we listen to at home (Dishwork 6031)

I watched Stern's show on E channel a few times and didn't care for it, but I must say his radio show is a lot more entertaining.

I have listened to Stern since 1996. It took a few months for his new Sirius show to get a flow going but it finally did and is as good as ever now.

I'm not sure anyone has the true numbers of how many Sirius has created. I can only speek for myself in saying I got Sirius for RM. I was what you call a closet Parrothead and I believe there are many more closet parrotheads out there. People who love the music but never go to the concerts and only buy the CD's. This year will be my first concert so you can say I've come out of the closet and I'm very glad I did. The people here on BN are the best. Very helpful, funny and at the same time very caring. The kind of people I'd like to know and party with.

I believe I heard somewhere that after Howard made the announcement that he was moving to Sirius, subscriptions raised at an alarming rate. So much that Sirius was having troubles handling the demand of radios. I know of no other artist out there other than JB who airs live concerts, and certainly none as big as JB.

I posted a question some time ago in the "Off Topics" section about what channels other than RM do you have programmed into your Sirius radio. Lots of people replied and lots of people have many channels programmed in. So maybe the reason at first to get Sirius was RM or Howard but we listen to other channels too.

I have always said when RM went satellite radio I would subscribe. I had my Sirius Radio in time for the premire of RM last June. Although it's a car adaptable unit I really want a permanent unit form my vehicle. My radio is set on channel 31 and doesn't move. 8) 8) 8)

Mine's on 31 except with the lovely wife is driving, and has hidden the remote from me... Needless to say, I don't let her drive often...

flipped on RM today my brother's house today and it was Paul Friggin' Simon
The Vacation station that RM took the place of was much better and played more tropical music IMO.
Heck, the Tropical Breezes station that he also gets with Dish Network was playing better stuff today.
Seems the best benefit you'd get from RM are the live Buffett concerts which for some is enough.
All of that said, I'm still gonna switch to Dish Network soon  :D

The live365.com Blue Dolphin station is the best internet streaming Buffett station. It is 85% Buffett with Gypsy Kings, Marley, Belafonte and a few others mixed in. In the last two days I have heard Eric Clapton and Bruce Springsteen on RM  , with the exception of the concert replays IMO RM is very very overrated.

I don't mind a little Clapton, Simon or even Springsteen on RM. It can be a little overdone.

What I used to like most about RM before it went to Sirius was the unreleased songs and alternative versions. I don't think I've heard PTYD15YOGH or Train to Dixie since RM made the move.

Did people honestly expect Radio Margaritaville to remain the same once it became part of a corporate giant such as Sirius? People also seem to think they should either play nothing but Jimmy Buffett all the time or nothing but tropical influenced artists.

Bob Dylan starts his show on XM next month and as much as of a Bob Dylan fan as I am I certainly hope he won't play anything but his own material or limit his playlist only to other singer/songwriters.

I have RM programmed in and no others. I did switch stations once though for about an hour. I got Sirius specifically for RM, so that is what I listen to...that said, if RM went away I would probably find something else on Sirius to listen to. I have no intention of listening to AM/FM again!

I love tropical/reggae type music but if that's all I had to listen to all of the time I'd grow tired of it very quickly. I guess I can see why some would subscribe to Sirius just for Radio Margaritaville but to only listen to the one channel? Speaking just for myself, I got satellite radio for the variety, not to listen to just one channel when I have far more choices than that.

Has Radio Margaritaville really changed since it has been on Sirius? I used to listen to it a lot a few years ago and back then I was saying the same stuff; not enough Buffett and too much random not tropical music. I think it is exactly the same as always.

I was just going by what people have been saying about it here since it went to Sirius. I tuned in occasionally when it was online only and liked it well enough but mainly for the live broadcasts of Buffett concerts. As for it's format (then and now), is it written anywhere that it's supposed to be Buffett and tropical music only? I was kinda thinking it was supposed to be a reflection of Buffett's tastes which definitely aren't tropical only.

RM is supposed to be an eclectic mix of music aimed at folks of his/our age. WMVY out of marthas vinyard is like minded
