Do you think that Sirius is causing an increasing the number of parrotheads out there?
This past Christmas, I got a Sirius satellite radio. Honestly... I got it to listen to Howard Stern. But I quickly found that I enjoyed Radio Margaritaville more than Howard 100.
It took a couple of months, but it slowly grew on me. Soon, at work I was tuned in to either RM at my desk or was getting all the songs on Napster.
So do you think that we're seeing an increase in the number of people turned on to JB? Maybe the moderators could give some insight on the traffic statistics for this site. I probably wouldn't be here without Sirius satellite radio (and a little nudging from my parrothead brother).

I don't know about an increase in actual "Parrotheads", but I have had several friends who are Sirius subscribers tell me of them tuning into RM and enjoying the music!
Frankly, I don't expect to see any of them in the parking lot at Irvine or at our next Club meeting...but, at least now they seem to appreciate what it is all about.

I would say it is more the result of a lot of word of mouth, and overexposure the last couple years on CMT...

Sirius rocks, but I don't know that that is responsible for turning people to the PH lifestyle, or necessarily making for more phans. I think what it does do is make it one more outlet for the existing phans to have to listen to the music. I think you are seeing more phans now that the weather is starting to warm up, and all the parrots are coming out of their shell. Concerts are right around the corner too. I'm recent to this forum, as well as recent to Sirius, and I don't think I'd want to not have either, but I don't think that either had anything to do with the other...

Since I got Sirius RM is not as good as I thought it would be. They don't play enough Jimmy Buffett songs.

Well, it is not the Elvis Channel or the Rolling Stones Channel, but they do play as much (maybe just a tad more) of Jimmy than they did when they were internet only.
You can still count on 2-3 Jimmy songs per hour, the Buffett Buffet's and concert broadcasts and rebroadcasts.
Frankly, if it was JB 24/7, I wouldn't listen nearly as much as I do now.

Ya know, I used to listed to RM on the computer before they went to Sirius, and it's not quite the same as it used to be. Anyone else notice that? That said, RM keeps me calm in traffic, and I do like the variety, which is why I don't have a CD Changer full of Buffett in the truck. If you wanted Buffett all day long, just buy a bunch of CD's, convert them to MP3's on your ipod. You'd be better off price wise I believe in the log run. RM has exposed me to other groups I'd not have heard before, that I really like.

I agree....I have my iPod and Cds for 27/7 if I want. I like hearing some stuff I might not have otherwise gotten to hear.

Even if statistics
did show a significant increase in visitors to this site that doesn't necessarily mean it could be attributed to
Radio Margaritaville on Sirius. Buffett has a tour coming up as well as the
Hoot soundtrack and a new album due in the fall. That alone is reason enough for people to go online to seek out message boards and other Buffett-related sites to feed their need to know more about these upcoming projects.

This is a true statement, however; BuffettNews does get considerable mention on RM! Even to the extent of being spelled out B-u-f-f-e-t-t-n-e-w-s.com, mentioning specific discussions, etc.

It's not even midnight yet and we're famous?

That's cool but contrary to popular belief, Buffett News isn't the only Buffett-related fan run site out there. Hell, there's even one that we aren't even allowed to mention here. If you do, it's blanked out. I've tried to see what's up with that but have received no answers. Especially when it's apparently OK to mention other Buffett-related sites. Mainly, my point was, Sirius isn't the only impetus that might encourage people to visit this (or any other) Buffett site.

Seriously?!? If so, that just doesn't seem right...
Ok, going for the blank out to see for myself: cobo.org, ************.com , jimmydreamz.com ?

It is due to a specific incident, where some of the BW folks intentionally came over to BN with a smear campaign including the line "best Buffett site on the net", to which phjim took offense, deservedly so in my opinion.

So instead of confining the incident to the people responsible, the entire site was held responsible and therefore can't be mentioned at all here. That is a bunch of BS, in
my opinion.

Well, it was many people, and there was a thread on BW with many more saying "look what I'm going to go do at BN." It was the least time consuming method, and it worked.

I bought Sirius for RM, but I have found myself listening to Howard Stern more than RM, I think it's because I had never heard him before and I have every Buffett cd and have heard them each a gajillion times. I watched Stern's show on E channel a few times and didn't care for it, but I must say his radio show is a lot more entertaining.
