Check out the new Bruce Springsteen video
Hey Everyone on CMT.com you can watch the new Bruce Springsteen and the Seeger Session Band video "Pay Me My Money Down."

If the whole album sounds like this, I am going to have to make it a point to see him again on tour. What a great rendition of Pete Seeger's song.

Well, you did ask. Also, you're right, I'm not really a big fan of his but I do like some of his stuff. I also don't ever rule out eventually coming around to an artist I may not like at first. For this sort of thing I much prefer the Mermaid Avenue albums Wilco and Billy Bragg did of unrecorded Woody Guthrie songs. The articles I posted in the other Springsteen thread pretty much sum up how I feel about Springsteen's Seeger project.jbfinscj wrote:Not from you, if I remember correctly you aren't a fan of Springteen.Jahfin wrote:Do you really wanna know?jbfinscj wrote:What does everyone think?

I agree the album that Wilco and Billy Bragg put out together was pretty damn good. I don't listen to it often, but from top to bottom it is an excellent album. My friend Adam who's musical taste is very similiar to yours used to hate Bruce Springsteen, but he eventually came around and heard the songs for the lyrics not the fist pounding music that sometimes over powers his songs.Jahfin wrote:Well, you did ask. Actually there's two Mermaid Avenue albums and they've both very excellent (although I'd also go for the first one by a slight margin). As for what I don't care for when it comes to Springsteen, it's not the "fist pounding music" but the fact that a lot times he sounds like a "dying cow in heat" vocally. By the way, those are words from his high school vocal coach, not me. That said, I do like artists with raspy vocals such as Dylan so maybe there's hope yet. Like I said, I do like a few songs (particularly "Two Steps Back" from Tunnel of Love) but for the most part I simply don't care for his music. When I express an opinion musically I'm afraid people may take it the wrong way. Just because I don't care for a certain artist doesn't mean I hate them (or the people that like them). We can't all like the same thing nor would I like for us to, that would be pretty boring, don't ya think?jbfinscj wrote:I agree the album that Wilco and Billy Bragg put out together was pretty damn good. Nope I respect your opinion....When I saw him in Pittsburgh last August he decided to add "Two Steps Back" to his setlist. I have a bootleg copy of that show if you would be interested.Jahfin wrote:Actually there's two Mermaid Avenue albums and they've both very excellent (although I'd also go for the first one by a slight margin).
