I never got hurt, or jumped off a tramp as a kid. The netting on the tramp my kids have makes them think they can jump against it, which it's not really strong enough to accept.
Obviously someone is making big money on selling that 'security' item, but I bet it causes more troubles than it saves.
Hmmmm... we weren't sure whether to get it or not, but asked others, and they said we should. They
do jump into the walls on the inflatable bouncy things.
I'm not too worried about my kids as they're not very agressive. But I hate for something to happen to
someone else's kids.
my parents were always worried about that too, but after a few times it was no longer an issue. the only rule was no jumping when parents aren't home. but i think your keets are a little too young for that anyway

Just a voice of reason.... the side net may protect you from a lawsuit should the neighborhood kiddos get hurt....
Tramps are fun... but be ready for something to break.... and it wont be the tramp!

So you know the girl we used to call "the Rooster" when I was in college?

When I was growing up, our nextdoor neighbor had one and me and my sis were ALWAYS over there jumping on it. So much fun! And we never had any trips to the ER or major injuries b/c of it. I may have twisted my ankle on it once, but nothing requiring medical attention. And as far as I know, none of the four kids that owned the trampoline ever were injured on it either (and it didn't have a net.)
They'll have a blast!

I doubt it... In college I thought a Tramp carried a stick with a bandana tied to it....

One of my closest friends works for a "Sports Medicine" surgeon..
says about 15% of the injuries are trampoline related..but I still want one of those little ones for inside.....
My dad is 82 and he jumps on one every day..It's pretty fun to watch...

We've had one for several years now...as long as you kids follow some simple safety rules and aren't out to kill each other with body slams....you'll probably be okay. (Nothing if for certain.)
When Rock is being a bit unfocas and 'hyper' I send her out to bounce. She comes back in 30 minutes later much calmer.

All I know is as you get older, they wear your butt out - a few bounces and I am ready to pass out

I remember getting a trampoline on Christmas Day. It was already set up in the yard, and even though it was snowing, we still jumped on it! haha
They are soooo much fun and it encourages exercise. Just follow the rules, it's much safer with one jumper at a time (although we broke that rule many times).
As with any physical activity, accidents can happen. I did a back flip and landed on my head once, not fun...but no major injury

I wouldn't deprive anyone of the fun of a trampoline though!

Since this is for my kids, even though the thought went through my mind, especially after Larry's boink boink comment, I'm trying not to go there!!

I never did it on one.

I'm ashamed.

I'm trying for a mental picture but . . . which partner bounces 10 feet into the air prior to "contact"? I'm in pain just thinking about it!
Cheers.

yeah, i have to agree with this point too, my brother has one......but again i never fell off, and we were not the safest kids.
if you get that timing right by landing right before another person, you get that extra high bounce.....it's launched me off a few times....but then, boys do tend to be a bit more wreckless

I won't let Rock on a tramp that doesn't have a net. This does not give her license to 'jump againest it' and this is one of our few hard and fast rules, or otherwise be unsafe...but it does offer a measure of extra protection from a jump gone bad. It doesn't replace common sense...and it's not meant to, but they aren't a 'scam' either.

They are most defiently dangerous, check your insurance, and don't let any neighborhood kids play on it. If you don't have an umbrella liability, and you value your house, car, etc, get on the phone with your insurance guy...
That said, we had one for several years, and the kids loved it. It was alot of fun. We all got hurt pretty badly on it at different times, plan on that happening. Have fun with it, and you're crazy if you let the kids jump on it without supervison.
It stayed with the house in NH, when we sold it, and I don't think I'd ever buy another one.

well my next door neighbor needed to take 3 of their 4 kids to the ER with broken limbs before they got rid of theirs, and a friend of mine from high school will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair paralyzed after breaking his neck on one, so there isn't a big chance you'll find me on one....
