Well, if you had actually read the posts I'm not sure how you could come to the conclusion that it "looks like a war zone in here" but no, I have no desire to "challenge you on it". I simply misunderstood where Green1 was coming from. To my knowledge there were no harsh words or insults exchanged in those last few posts, nothing that would seem to indicate this thread had turned into a "war zone".jbfinscj wrote:I read every single post in here....care to challeneg me on it?Jahfin wrote:It's comments like that which make me wonder if some of you even take the time to read the posts in the thread before commenting, particularly the last few.jbfinscj wrote:WOW![]()

No No by "war zone" I was referring to all of the copying and pasting going on. One person would comment and then someone would comment on their comments. I think it's great to see political discussion on these message boards. It's because of our freedoms as United States citizens that we are able to do so.Jahfin wrote:Well, if you had actually read the posts I'm not sure how you could come to the conclusion that it "looks like a war zone in here" but no, I have no desire to "challenge you on it". I'm not sure what you mean by "copying and pasting" and how that could possibily be interpreted as being a "war zone". When you reply to someone on this (or most any) message board using the quote function it automatically includes the post you're replying to.jbfinscj wrote:No No by "war zone" I was referring to all of the copying and pasting going on. I did not refer to the President of the United States as a Shrub, I referred to him as Shrub, slang for "Bush", also not an insult. At least not any more of an insult than referring to him as "Dubya". I've seen both terms used frequently in the press so if you consider it an insult then those other folks that have used the same term have also insulted him.captenuta wrote:No insults. That is a very common reference to him...it's been used online for years now. Maybe not reverant, but it's not an insult.captenuta wrote:No insults. You called the President of the United States a Shrub!
There is plenty to insult that man about as far as I am concerned, it doesn't take a school-yard tease about his name to do it.

Either way I never like it when people call each other names. Any debate is good but when in gets to name calling I will tune out. Shrub might not be very harsh but remember it is his family's name.

Free speech is a right of United States citizens, it is not guaranteed to visitors.Jahfin wrote:just as Neil Young has the right to speak out against the President of the United States

Being a citizen of the U.S. doesn't enter to it. I see nothing whatsoever precluding him from speaking his mind. Same goes for citizens of other countries outside the U.S.Elrod wrote:Jahfin wrote:So much for "free speech", eh?Jahfin wrote:What I did say was that just because someone is from another country it doesn't mean they can't speak out about our government.Free speech is a right of United States citizens, it is not guaranteed to visitors.Jahfin wrote:just as Neil Young has the right to speak out against the President of the United States
If all else fails resort to elementary school level comments such as this. Yep, it really helps to intellectualize the discussion.Wino you know wrote:I guess he isn't really dead. Okay, sorry but I have to interject here.
All the "Free Speech" and "censoship" talk here is crap. Read the Constitution. It talks about government action abridging speech, not private action. Neil Young has every right to make this album, whether he is from Canada or Montana. Also everyone has the right to call for boycotts from the PRIVATE record companies if they so choose.
I may not agree with Young, but he has the right to say it. And some may not agree with those protesting it, but they have every right also. It is an economic boycott, not a constitutional one.
Since the Govt isnt involved, everyone can do what they please. That is the beauty and the double edge sword of freedom of speech.
Also, if everyone agreed on everything, life would be so boring.
Fins up and keep on rocking in the free world

Big Bush George HW/ little Bush George W = shrub. Kurt Busch calls his little brother Kyle Busch "Shrub" I'm not sure what the problem is other then the veiws on Neil Young and from where I'm sitting it's a throw back to the political based songs of the 70's. Oh wait I told myself I wouldn't get mixed up in this thread. Must be a senor moment!!!!!!captenuta wrote:No insults. You called the President of the United States a Shrub!
