We have TONS of deductions this year. Donated a buttload of furniture and household goods (like, enough to furnish a small house), plus deductions for the kiddos, child care, etc.
It's how we are paying for a new sprinkler system, fence, and flooring for our kitchen (hasta la bye bye pepto pink floors!!!).

4 couches. 6 dressers. enough dishes and pots and pans for an entire kitchen (including flatware). 3 coffee tables. 6 lamps. an entire child's bedroom set. a crib. 8 bags full of clothes, 5 bags/2 boxes of toys. a plant stand. ummm. i know there is more, i'd have to grab my receipts to remember though.CaptainP wrote:Just how much is a "Buttload"?buffettbride wrote:Donated a buttload of furniture
we had this stuff just piled in our garage and right after katrina happened we took it to the salvation army who was asking for donations such as ours. it worked out handily.
and, unbelievably, we STILL have too much stuff.

My wife owns her own business, too. It's because of that business that we get so much back!!!Crzy wrote:My mother wrote uncle sam a check for $28000 this year plus $4400 each quarter for estimated taxes... last year it was $32000... she owns her own business and pays out huge every yearNYCPORT wrote:Who thinks giving the govt. over $2000 on a return is insane??? I don't know yet, I'm still doing my taxes.....okay, that's a lie. I plan on starting my taxes some time today.....I plan on working on my procrastination problem soon. Thank goodness we have until Monday....I know we'll have to pay, just don't know how much.....
