What I miss most is a nice ice cold Mountain Dew... pure refreshment!!
If I drink ONE of those, I am INSTANTLY addicted!Tiki Bar wrote:What I miss most is a nice ice cold Mountain Dew... pure refreshment!!
It seems quite a few kids do the 'on meds' 'off meds' thing. My nephew has a MAJOR problem with ADHD (with lots of the 'hyper').....his mother (my SIL) refused to medicate him (not sure she's changed her mind, she hasn't returned her brother's calls for two years)...anyway.....when I would take him places the first thing I did once out of her sight was give him a Coke. (She didn't let him have caffeine!)buffettbride wrote:Yep. I talked to the friend's parents (they are also good friends of ours) and she said their child's teacher suggested it. She treats her own kid the same way during the summer, although I think he gets actual meds during the school year.
Sorry you can't drink 'em, JoAnn. But I think MD is icky.Tiki Bar wrote:What I miss most is a nice ice cold Mountain Dew... pure refreshment!!
For a longtime, when I lived in Germany, my drink of choice was Jack Daniels, good strong coffee and Bailey's. Oh man.....wide awake and focused drunk! LOL...the trouble I found myself in!Quiet and Shy wrote: And when I found out Bailey's has caffeine...that was a "duh" moment.![]()
Now I'm perplexed... my sister swears I have ADD, and I've always known I've had a short attention span. Since I stopped drinking caffeine, my memory and concentration are toast, and I'm dingy at best! I thought it was the meds I started taking at the same time I quit the caffeine, numbing me a la "One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest"... but maybe there's more to it.Quiet and Shy wrote:There are studies that show caffeine may help even the non-ADHDs focus somewhat better.
If you are on other meds.....maybe ask your doctor? I was informally diagnosed by my doc when being treated for another issue. I guess I could go get a formal diagnosis and testing....but...it seems a moot point.Tiki Bar wrote:Now I'm perplexed... my sister swears I have ADD, and I've always known I've had a short attention span. I've been on paxil for almost 3 months... feel pretty lifeless 90% of the time. I probably should talk to my doc, but I had a tough beginning of '06, and had 4 different dr appointments some days, and basically, I'm sick of doctors.Soraya wrote:If you are on other meds.....maybe ask your doctor? Some anti-depressants, such as Wellbutrin, can also help.
I took Paxil for several months. I slept 22 hours a day. It just didn't work for me. Now my boss, she thinks it's great and doesn't have that problem.Tiki Bar wrote:I've been on paxil for almost 3 months... feel pretty lifeless 90% of the time. As quoted from the BB Dictionary.
It doesn't affect either of mine, but you made me laugh.
I have no need for tea ... I rarely drink hot drinks - I only drink because I am thirsty - so a cold drink does the trick.jhamel wrote:But coke is bad for you also. Not just the caffeine. Cops use coke to clean blood of the streets. Try coke to rid the corrision off of battery posts.creeky wrote:Absolutely none ......
Caffeine is really bad for you ...
Here are some of the well known side effects
nausea
diahrrea
Anxiety
Depression
Headache
Heart palpitations
(there are more) .....
I have caffeine free diet coke
Bottled water is good for you. If you need tea try decaffeinated green tea with splenda. I feel the best I have have felt in years. I have been off coffee and regular black tea for over a year now and I dranked four or five tall cups of coffee each day (the strong StarBucks) and then two or three glasses of tea in the evening.
OK! Just think of me if you need an added pick me up!Wino you know wrote:Yeah, I know, JoAnn.
I'll try to get by with just 3 or 4 cups of coffee at work tonight, okay?
