I doubt very seriously that Don't Stop the Carnival is considered a proper album either.

Since he does a lot of covers, how about an all cover tunes setlist?
I'll get it started, in no particular order:
Wind Beneath My Wings
Feelings
Memories
Hit Me Baby One More Time
Opps, I Did It Again
OPP
Ebony & Ivory (duet w/Nadirah)
What A Girl Wants (Tina & Nadirah doing the first song after intermission like they did with Respect 2 years ago)

Feel free to add your own choices.

Fountains of Wayne and guitarist extraordinaire Richard Thompson both do very excellent covers of this song.

Set List

Personally I thought for the most part the set list last night was pretty darn good. That being said Jimmy made the understatement of the year when he said we were brave Pirates to sit there and listen to the brand new song "Party at the end of the World". The song is awful and by the look on Jimmy's face after he sang it he knew it bombed. Let's just put that song back in the can and seal it up....for good.

I doubt very seriously that's gonna happen since it's the title track to his new album that's due in October.

what about some Celine? Gotta add My Heart Will Go On to such a spectacular list.

And don't forget Danke Shein! Or Donkey Shine if your southern... :)

At least he made an effort.

I think he is worried about the band learning all new songs. He said something about that in his interview. There will never be a perfect setlist, but I am happy he is making an effort to give us something different.

My BIG problems is, how do you do Delaney Talks to Statues, or material from older albums, without Fingers? I am sure that he and the band must have listened to the recording before rehersals. Wonder if that was a little weird.

Jah - I consider DSTC to be one of the best examples of his writing ability.

I kinda grimaced through the first half... PBC and I Will Play for Gumbo were the highlights for me...

But, I'm psyched about the album theme second set :D :D :D
It will give each show a unique flavor and create buzz over what will come next.

but... I really wanted to hear songs from Fruitcakes at the Saturday Irvine show! :-?

We may end up with Beachhouse on the Moon... :-?

I always expected the Party at the End of the World release date to be December 21st, 2012. :o

Ok...I am probably the only one who gets it...

I remember the bad reviews and moans & groans about LTC, but give it time
It will probably be the theme of next year's tour! 8)

I'm not questioning the writing on Don't Stop the Carnival, I'm saying it's not considered a proper album since it's a musical adaptation. That doesn't rule it out from being one of the featured albums but it's also not in the same category of his actual album releases, it was more like an experimental side project.

I did not listen to the show last night, but will try again on thursday. Pretty late night for me, anyway I am pleased to see a improved setlist. Yes schoolboy heart was played alot last year. Anytime I can get peanut butter, weather is here, floridays and gumbo + 4 songs from an album I am happy. Heck, I would be happy with peanut butter. The set list should be fun this year.

Last time I heard peanut butter (also got great filling station) was in 1999, then in 2000 got That's what living is to me. Since then, the setlist has been the album of the year + SYKBH. I really hope for some good albums, I am attending the atlanta and charlotte shows. So in charlotte I should get 4 different songs!?! Thats a great deal if its true.

Notice the set list has jack johnson and DMB removed-- thanks!!! I agree to uncle john's band too, pretty good dead cover. If JB is gonna play a cover then I pick that one. Not everybody will be happy, but I think the list has improved from previous years. I am very excited about the june shows.

And maybe one day BN will have that private concert with JB and his guitar and all the SYKBH will never be played. (or if I win the lottery)

Just enjoy and be glad he is still playing!!!
