hikingontuesday wrote:WOW, I am surprised at the negative comments on the set list. I was there, the place was rockin' and the music was great. I had to pinch myself a few times to remember that it is an treat to see Jimmy perform live. And having songs like Delaney and Desperation Samba played thrilled me. I love that I know all his music and was happy he played for us "real" parrotheads -- not just the new ones with all the country songs from last year.
I don't like the Peanut Butter song, but so what?? I loved 98% of it. The video was great, the old concert clips he showed after the show was over, all of it.
I'll be figuring out a way to go to anohter show, now that I know what his base "set list" is.
There. One satisfied customer.
. .since you appear to be our first , live concert goer. . mind if we direct some questions your way . .? ?
. .can you describe the set. . ? ? . . was the sound good in person . . ? ?

I can't wait to see what album is featured at Irvine tomorrow! I hope he plays a few songs off each album that haven't made an appearance since their debut tour. Six String Music, Lone Palm, Quietly Making Noise, and Apocalypso would've blown away the crowd favorites Jimmy selected, although Delaney was an awesome pick.
A1A tomorrow - I'd love to hear Makin' Music for Money, Tire Swing, Nautical Wheelers, Migration, Presents to Send You, and Stories We Could Tell). I'll definitely be happy with the favorites(TCC, TTR)
One song people aren't really mentioning is Bank of Bad Habits. How did that one make the setlist?

I'm sure it's somewhere in the mega thread from last night but I'm at work and spend too much time reading this already.

Can someone tell me WHICH Floridays (old or new) was played last night? I wimped out and couldn't stay awake to listen myself.
I'm so ashamed
Thanks!!

Sure -- ask away!!
The set was simple. A big Ocean view back drop that looked like the band was playing at the water's edge. There were two lifeguard chairs with drinks and colorful beach towels facing away from the band toward the ocean. The "prop" this year is the lifeguard chair -- like last year's lighthouse. So, make your tailgating props accordingly. Not too different than the bright clean water from last year. AND the guys on stilts shot t-shirts from the stage this year and sent out a ton of Margaritaville Beach Balls. No going down the asile.
At the entrance the Margaritaville Bus was doing demos of the new "Frozen Concoction Maragarita Maker" -- bring your own tequilla! They also had shrimp and new Boneless buffalo tenders and terriaki chicken wings. Free tattoos of "Mexican Cuties."
The Maragritaville "Flip Flop" crew drove through the parking lot on a golf cart with a big Lifeguard Chair for people to take photos in...
The sound was great. I missed the big horn section (hey, where was Amy Lee???) but loved the solo trumpet dude (never got names) -- He Rocked Desperation Samba!!! I, personally, liked the opening of the set with just Jimmy, then adding on the band members...
As for "One Particular Harbor" it was great to hear Nadira -- she belts it out -- but other than that it really focused on Jimmy rather than the Coral Reefers.
The "Party at the End of the World" was a bit weird. It was Jimmy running around on stage with a michrophone... no guitar and I rarely see him like that.
We saw a movie clip from "Hoot" and his new video... again weird seeing Jimmy "sing" without an instrument.
After the second Encore the showed another video montage from past concerts, tailgates, it was fun.

Yikes. I had missed that...
And one last thing -- I was totally PSYCHED that we got "Fruitcakes" as our album. Dancing to the video reminded me of dancing in the Lawn at Great Woods to it many years ago! That was Seven Years from The Millenium... so really long time ago!

Jimmy's such a live performer...he plays off of and gets so much energy from the crowd. I wonder if that's why it took more effort from him to do "PATEOTW"? I'd kind of noticed a similar feel when he performed "Good Guys Win" last week for the "Hoot" audience.

I'm with you. Sounds like you put a lot of time into Buffett lyrics. You picked out some great songs. Peanut Butter is pretty good but only true followers know it. One Particular Horbour w/o brass takes a big hit.
