Didn't even make a "Hoot."
I must say I am surprised by the lack of discussion revolving around the "Hoot" soundtrack. I thought once it was released there would be a lot of talk regarding the "new" Buffett tracks. I looked over in the album review section and there are only 14 posts. Did most of you decide not to purchase it or couldn't you find it? I know I had to go to two stores before I found a lone copy at Wal Mart.

I've seen plenty of threads about the soundtrack here and elsewhere. Personally I'm undecided on purchasing it, especially given many of the lukewarm reviews.jbfinscj wrote:I must say I am surprised by the lack of discussion revolving around the "Hoot" soundtrack. Re: Didn't even make a "Hoot."
I really like the Buffett songs, the theme song, and a couple of the others. But some of the songs, while they fit the movie quite well, aren't my thing (hip hop, for instance). It's like that with almost any movie soundtrack, for me. I know there will be a couple or three songs I really don't like, but the ones I do like tip the scales in favor of buying the soundtrack. When a soundtrack has only one or two songs I like, I hope it's available on iTunes, and I buy just those songs. I LOVE ITUNES!Jahfin wrote:I've seen plenty of threads about the soundtrack here and elsewhere. I don't think it would be up your alley. It's a very strange collection of songs in my opinion, plus it's not that long of an album. The songs "Floridays, Good Guys Win, and Wondering Where the Lions Are" are great though.Jahfin wrote:I've seen plenty of threads about the soundtrack here and elsewhere. I heard Wondering Where The Lions Are during the pre-concert show last night, and liked it. It's a cover. I quite accidentally stumbled upon the original version (I think Bruce Cockburn did it, but could be wrong) just now -- it's buried in the intermission music of the 6/13/05 Toronto show. Almost better. I yanked the original out and saved it off as an MP3 -- will be added to the Ipod tonight
.
I don't know and I don't care.

It's Bruce Cockburn, I just bought it from iTunes last week.parrothd_mark wrote:I heard Wondering Where The Lions Are during the pre-concert show last night, and liked it. It's a cover. what I really mean . . . I wish you were here
Re: Didn't even make a "Hoot."
Yep, probably not worth owning for just a few songs I'd like (I also have the Toots cut elsewhere). I'm sure it'll show up in the cutout bins soon enough, I'll most likely just wait to pick it up there.jbfinscj wrote:I don't think it would be up your alley. That entire album is worth owning, as is the vast majority of his material.LIPH wrote:It's Bruce Cockburn, I just bought it from iTunes last week.parrothd_mark wrote:I heard Wondering Where The Lions Are during the pre-concert show last night, and liked it. Here is my review:
Wondering Where The Lions Are - Very good. I loved the original, Jimmy does a good version.
Barefootin' - Pretty good...Sonny's guitar adds something
Good Guys Win - Just ok for a soundtrack song. Probably be more disappointed in it if it were on a regular album
Floridays - Not bad...growing on me a little
Warewolves of London - Not worth the effort.
Fingers' contributions to the album sound great, like the old days.
Happy Ending - basically an instrumental by the CRB, is not bad,
Of the rest, Back of the Bus by G. Love and Florida by Mofro are pretty good but I am not rushing out to by a Mofro CD.
Funky Kingston is a great song and an added bonus, but available in plenty of other places.

I ordered HOOT from Circut city on Monday. Should be here by Friday .... I have heard it during the movie ....and I liked it. I love the new spin on FLORIDAYS but i will most likely listen to Werewolves once then skip it...... not a phan of that one. The should have left it in 1978 IMO.

Just finished listening to HOOT. I liked it. I drive a lot and think it's gonna be a keeper. LOVED Funky Kingston- Toots and The Maytals. Heard Wondering Where The Lions Are, JB, last night on RM. Good song. I got it for about $10.00 at Circuit City. No buyers remorse, not even a hint. Besides, I think everything that has been put into this movie, ie; educational opportunities, environmental studies, etc. is WAY WORTH THE INVESTMENT!!!

got to stop wishin' got to start fishin'....
