I DO NOT recommend it when coming off a bout of stomach flu... I think I'm gonna hurl!
Nope....nor Manhattan Clam Chowder. Clams are the one seafood I don't like. Oysters are a treat, shrimp a staple in the house.....squid not a problem....but clams are gross.
My husband likes it from time to time....he's stuck with Chunky in the can though as I won't make it either.

Clam chowder in a bread bowl ranks right up there with Oreos for me...one of my absolute faves. I could live without the clams tho.
Eating clam chowder in a bread bowl on Fishermans Wharf on Monterey Bay while watching the otters is my idea of heaven. That's what I do when I need to recharge.

I've done that! I was gonna mention the best I had was in a bread bowl on the wharf!

I must like potato soup rather than clam chowder, cause I don't like to taste the clams, but I voted "YES" cause I THOUGHT I liked it!

I've heard of that place! A friend of mine very highly recommended it when I was out there last year, but one of the friends I was visiting is deathly allergic to shellfish (and loved it, so was totally pi$$ed that other people still got to eat it).
My ship she has a rudder, but I don’t know where to steer
Must have been one of the Bridgewater Rofihe's who told me!
My AUNT in Bridgewater makes some pretty awesome N.E. clam chowder, but I was actually referring to my father's first cousin-Anita Eisenhaure-in Crescent Beach. I don't know if you're familiar with that part of N.S., but it's about 25 miles south of Bridgewater (heading toward Liverpool-where my father was born) close to the mouth of the LaHave River in the Green Bay area of Lunenberg County.

I sure am familiar with all of that area! Nova Scotia is small enough that people know people from every little nook and cranny. Many was the time we concluded a great chowder meal there with a piece of the famous lemon meringue pie from Gladys' Canteen at Hirtle's. My best friend and his wife have a summer house in Rose Bay.
