The white kind, aka chowda.

I DO NOT recommend it when coming off a bout of stomach flu... I think I'm gonna hurl! :o :-?

Hmmm.. not really. I've had tastes of several, and some were better than others. Mostly just like the broth, cause I'm not crazy about clams. :)

After seeing what a raw clam looks like, I don't understand how anyone can put that s*** in their mouth. :o

The white stuff is great if it's done right.
We've got a place in Chapel Hill called the Nantucket Cafe.
Good folks from Nantucket Mass and they do it right!! :D

I love both kinds. Manhattan and New England style clam chowders.

Snow's makes a pretty good New England style "clam chowdah". New England style varies so I cannot reccomend any particular one other than the one myMom made.

Yeah, I like chowda -- New England better than Manhattan, but either one will do.

"Does a bear s*** in the woods"... of course I like chowder (no need to specify because in these parts there is only 1 type  ). Best chowder in Boston is the Union Oyster House on Union St. Really thick with just the right amount of celery.

I prefer New England style to Manhattan style, but it need to be thick with lots of clams. Too many places serve something closer to potato soup than clam chowder!

I prefer the white kind to the red Manhattan, but I'm kinda new to eating clam chowder, so perhaps the red that I had wasn't what it should have been...

I do love clams, though, melted butter w/lemon

Love clam chowder. I agree, too often it is filled with way too many potatoes. I always laugh when I visit Boston, because every restaurant claims to have "Award Winning" clam chowder---must be a whole lot of chowder competitiions :D :D :D

I'm not into the whole oyster/clam/mussel thing.

Now lobster, shrimp, and crabs are an entirely different thing <drool>
