Being a Bears fan I'm not looking forward to the Packers getting A.J. Hawk, at least that's what most of the mock drafts are saying. He's good :o
If not the texans, somebody is going to tkae Bush first. The other area team the Jets may have an interesting choice...
The Jests need so much help they can't go wrong taking a player at just about any position. Except with their luck, no matter who they take they'll wind up with the 2006 version of Ryan Leaf.
Don't they need like 4 QBs?

Yeah, sure glad the Broncos didn't end up with him... I about had a coronary when I found out he was in Denver meeting with Shanahan.

I hope the steelers work the draft like they always do. Last opick this year, guess that the price you pay for being champs. They do have a lot of mid round picks though and are hitorically good at picking up good late rounders

What do think of getting rid of Brees?
Hurting his shoulder made this decision a lot easier.
If he doesn't have perfect protection, he doesn't adjust well on the run.
In 2004, everything aligned just right.

Philip Rivers is gonna struggle some, but he'll have the tools to succeed
Bolty....I'm a Chargers fan, too.....but I'm very pessimistic on Rivers. I'm upset about this change. Rivers has the same delivery as Scott Mitchell....the sidearm throw doesn't work in the NFL. Bad decision to let Brees walk.

As for the Packers, they need Offensive Line help more than anything, but nobody worth taking will be available when they pick at #5, so they'll go defense, aiming for Mario Williams or AJ Hawk.

Whoever drafts AJ Hawk will be getting an amazing player who will be a major star in the NFL. Bobby Carpenter will surprise some folks too....

I've heard a few sports writers saying that the Packers should draft Hawk and try to sign Lavar Arrington. I know Arrington is overrated but having Hawk, Barnett, and Arrington would be a really solid linebacker crew.

Scratch that idea...just found an article saying that Arrington worked out with the Giants on Thursday and they look to be close to signing him.

Arrington is still undecided, the Giants just happen to be the team that looked most recently.

I've heard they sign Arrington, then trade up to get Williams, and use their next pick on Abdul Hodge from Iowa.

Chad Greenway from Iowa could still be there and Bobby Carpenter will be available.

Carpertenter looks better..but who knows how Belichick thinks.

3. Bobby Carpenter, Ohio State – The best blitzing linebacker in this class. Very quick off the ball and has great closing speed. Should excel as a 3-4 edge rusher in the pros. Can play both inside and outside, so that should enhance his draft stock. An exceptional edge rusher who can come in and help replace the loss of Willie McGinest as a rookie. Has the versatility to play middle linebacker as well, which would allow the Patriots to move Mike Vrabel back outside if they decide they want to go that route.

6. Chad Greenway, Iowa – Very productive college player but lacks athleticism and isn’t very physical. Good in coverage but gets overpowered a lot by blockers. Scouts either love him or hate him. We agree with the latter. However, if Greenway does succeed in the NFL, I think it will be in a 4-3 defense, not a 3-4 where he has to fight through a lot of blockers.

after signing brees, the saints will probably select d'brick. we are thin on the o line. but, we are also in need of a linebacker. trade with the jets, swap our number two pick for their number four and their 29th. they get leinart, we get a.j. hawk and take nick mangold (center) with their 29th. but knowing the saints, there no telling what they will do. they are sitting pretty good with the number two pick. lots of scenarios.
if the phone doesn't ring it's me...
