Great post, Bumper. What a *tremendous* show!
And what you felt sitting there, I felt sitting in RI.... Man, this could really be it.... What he did *not* say is telling: he did not say see you next year. Now, there's still Saturday, so we'll be listening carefully. But I spent half the show feeling like Jimmy was beginning an extended "goodbye"....
Everyone (including me!) is saying what a tremendous set list it was last night. As someone pointed out in the set list thread, Jimmy played every single song off SYKBH. Every one. For an album that people love to malign, it can be *just right*, like it was last night.

I was at last night show as WELL. And I have to agree whole-heartdly what was stated here.
The night was perfect weather, there was a clear sky with a little breeze and Jimmy just sounded MAGICAL-It was far down the best Jimmy concert I have been to thus far.........
The crowd was indeed into the music and spirit of the concert-the look on people's faces were just priceless
THANK YOU JIMMY FOR A WONDERFUL NIGHT THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET!!!

I read that too, I wouldn't have known it either. I don't listen to that cd much at home, but I love to hear them at the shows. And by my count, the first two shows have had 35 different songs between them. Great job of mixing it up! At this rate the band will need sheet music by the June leg of the tour.

I didn't have the opportunity to attend last night's show, but a phriend let me experience it via cell phone. I could feel the energy just listening over the phone.
I will be there tomorrow ... hope it is just as good (it will be

)
phinz up!

Bumper....
Great Post!
It was indeed a magical night.
The day was mostly great as well. The weather Gods really did a number, sunny and warm. An odd thing, all of us RVer's were put out to pasture on the far fence as opposed to the front row, always known as RV Alley. Then we were told not to put out our slides, no awnings, etc. However, it all settled down quickly. We parked the "Margaritaville Bus", cranked the sound system outside and had a ball back in the greatest parking lot party of all Buffett shows (Great Woods is second) in my opinion.
As for the show, I totally agree with Bumper. My wife and I thought it was amazing! We can not wait to go back Saturday!

On the lot opening....
We got in at 2:20. There were only about five buses & RV's, and maybe 40 cars waiting at 12:30 across the street. However, I expect a LOT more people showing up early tomorrow as it of course the weekend. I have a feeling the lot will open around 1 pm, but of course, that is just an opinion.

Maybe it's just me but from reading some of the comments, in this thread and others, I'm starting to believe my first thought about the Party At The End Of The World tour was right - it's an unannounced farewell tour. I hate to say it, but it has to come sooner or later. Just my $0.02
wow

I don't want to jump to such conclusions so quickly here...
After all, he IS on the verge of releasing a NEW album, and, I'm thinking, it did not finish production quite as quickly as Jimmy would've liked, so....
we have a summer tour made up of greatest fan favorites.
We've certainly been asking for this kind of theme for long enough, maybe he sees this as a great, and timely opportunity.
I'm betting we see Jimmy just the same in 2007

..and there's my 2 cents!

WOW...I'm finally awake and back home in SD...
The Thursday show was fantastic. This was my 18th show and I really feel that for the first time the stage was filled with musicians. No more going through the motions or singing the same songs for the 1500th time. This band was on fire!!! I have never seen them so good. Jimmy must've given them a raise

. The songs sounded so fresh and alive. The sound in the venue was the best I have ever heard it...loud, crisp, and wonderful...you could hear Jimmy's every word. This happened to be the first time...during HE WENT TO PARIS that it really hit me emotionally. I found myself wiping a tear. The song finally came alive. I never realized that there were solos in Jimmy's music...Peter, Jake, and Jimmy all rocked. Even Roger Guth on drums stood out in my mind. It was also a set list for the fans...and as I was standing in the loge section looking out at the crowd during BROWN EYED GIRL...I knew that Jimmy was giving the fans what they wanted....even though I always appreciate the songs that are not part of SYKBH...It was a truly special night. I really felt a close connection to Jimmy that had not been there in a long, long time. I truly feel that I got my money's worth and I hope, for the sake of all the shows to come, that the bands' passion, energy, and love of the fans stays intact and shining long into the rest of the tour and beyond.

I hope I'm wrong, I'd still like to make it to 100 buffett shows before he retires.

WOW!! What an amazing night. My 2 gal pals and I made it in the 4th row center and had the night of a lifetime. We finally made it, after a day of work and school, to the lot at 430 and it was actually going pretty good.
We made shirts for our Irvine/Hoot encounter and it was fun to tell people the story!
The show was amazing. I forgot how much fun it was to dance to Brown Eyed Girl and yes...I cried when he played Pirate looks at Forty (my favorite song). He played classics and songs from Hoot. It was great. Us three crazy girls even made the video they played and then they panned to us live. (I then proceeded to fall through my chair and land on my tailbone...defantly feeling it this morning)
Here is a link to the parking lot pictures from yesterday....just go to 4/20 Buffett.

Well, i'm taking a more positive view....I dont believe for a minute that the man is quitting....unless he has some undisclosed health problems. He just loves performing too much to quit.
The changes this tour may or may not suggest changes for the future, fewer venues, smaller venues, smaller band, more accoustic work, etc, but he's not quittin'
Just MY 2 cents, and i'm stickin by them

The sound on RM was much improved over Tuesday night. Don't get me wrong, Tuesday was fun, but the sound quality helped make it even better last night!!!

I was really trying to stay away from whether or not he will or will not perform next year. The Cracker Posses minus two witnessed an extrordinary exchange of energy and emotion between performer and audience last night, one that continues to give me chills. At the end of the day, whether or not he continues to tour, we are satisfied and content with the experience and the road traveled to get there.

just wondering...
Jimmy played "Irvine Meadows" many times for many years...
having gotten away lately...
does anybody think that his energy and the excitment could have something to do with being back...
and seeing an old, familiar friend...
