I totally agree, of all the Jimmy Buffett concerts I have been to, there was something different about last night.
I went with a friend who had never been to Buffett concert before and after the show she said to me "Wow, I wasn't expecting that".
I am trying to stay optimistic that this won't be it for him.
Can't wait for tommorrow!!!!

I agree...there was some incredible energy flowing at last nights show! You could see it on Jimmy's face at times!

Great show!

I have been going to 2 to 3 shows a year for the past 10 years and I truly believe that last night was the best show I have seen.....Musically. I think the main reason for this was the Hawaiin Kid on the Ukaleili (SP?). He killed and you could tell Jimmy was stoked on his performance. I also heard a few "But Not Yet's" and a reference to a "Show in the Pacific (Hawaii I think) this December." I don't think this is the last we will see of Mr. B in Irvine based on his comments. I thought the Music Videos during the intermission were really cool too. The parking lot was a blast. The weather was awesome and the crowd was going off!
I am fortunate to be going to tomorrow night's show as well. Rumor has it the weather won't be as good as yesterday but my fingers are crossed.
Anyway, this is my first post in a long time. I will try to repost after tomorrow night's show. To sum it up....There was definitely something magical about last nights show. No Doubt!

From what I could hear it sounded like the crowd was in a coma and all I kept thinking to myself is when are they going to start putting an effort into this??? It seemed like the was no energy from Jimmy or the crowd. Like I said, I wasn't there and was listening on the radio...Just my 2 cents.
Ya gotta remember that the microphones they use are highly directional (prevents feedback), and won't pick up crowd noise well, since they're designed to pick up only what's directly in front of them. Don't go by what you hear on RM for any real indication of what the crowd is doing.

In my heart I dont feel like this is a farewell tour for him. He has the new album coming out in the near future, and I am sure he will tour for that one also. Plus I think that if Jimmy was planning on making this a farewell he would let people know. I believe the love he has for us Parrotheads, he would say that this will be the last tour, so his fans could do what they could to see him one last time.
Hope I am right, but you never know. If this is his final goodbye than I am lucky I have two more shows left to see him. I do agree that this tour has been awesome so far and Jimmy and the whole band sound better than they have in years. 13 years as a Parrothead and hoping for a few more!!!

HEY I AIN'T DEAD YET!!!!!!
But in all seriousness, I listened to the first half of the show(had to work friday) on Sirius, and Jimmy did sound great. I really got a spark in my @$$ when he started the show with Boat Drinks, and then went into We are the People
Now I'm not ditching the whole horns section because I loved hearing them live just as much as the next person, but one thing I've noticed so far was the songs sound more clear and fresher.
Maybe it's just me, but like I said I am NOT ditching the horn section.
I'm looking forward to listening to ALL of tonights show, espically since I didnt get to hear him play the new Party at the end of the world song.
PLUS I CANT WAIT FOR PITTSBURGH!!!!

It was a fantastic concert. We had the same feeling. We were glad to be there. It felt like there was this big bubble of sort of light and happiness over the whole space, starting with the sunset on our own mountains. Southern Cross... we couldn't believe when he played it! Wow! Reminded us of the first time we saw it (used to live at latitude 13)... 'Harbour'... two minds as one immediately went to Admiralty Bay, Bequia... CA Promises, Jake, the whole thing was full of surprises and last looks. Jimmy (better half is a Jimmy too) said that even the set felt right. Sometimes the shore, sometimes somehow sunset, sometimes almost as if it was a lake in the mountains, can't describe it, but the lighting guys were on top of the game. We felt afterwards, in spite of the awful traffic in the lot, if we never get to another, well we had this one. third time pays all. One of those times when you know you are happy WHILE you are happy.
"Some people never find it, some only pretend, but me... I just want to live happily ever after, every now and then."

Everytime I hear the words "But Not Yet" I begin to relax knowing that this will not be my last Buffett show.
Glad to know that I was not the only one with "Tears" during He Went to Paris.

Now that I've heard the song "Party at the End of the World" and know that's the title track to the new album, I see no indication this is a farewell tour. Why? Well, he mentioned travel to Tierra del Fuego as inspiration for the song and a lyric includes the southernmost Argentine city, Ushuaia. For explorers and travelers, that area has long been known as "the end of the world". So take a deep breath, kick back and enjoy the shows folks, "Party at the End of the World" is merely a poetic geography reference.

Irvine is the WORST venue EVER!!!!!

My wife and I were at the concert on Thursday. Jimmy was GREAT as always. However, the Irvine venue was the most unorganized thing I have ever been to. We began our trek to enter the concert at 7:30pm (show start: 8pm) we did not reach our seats until a little after 9PM. We heard two song then it was intermission, I went for beer. One hour later and $20 less in my pocket I returned to my wife. I returned to my seat only to find everyone around us SITTING, at a BUFFET concert. Can you imagine ?? I was ready to dance and sing. People were throwing things at me and telling me to sit down. I did not!!!!! Once the show was over. it was a nightmare getting out. Next time Jimmy, come to Coors in San Diego and do everyone a favor. Irvine is not fan freindly. It's down right exhausting. A fan forever.

Thursday was a much different experience then Saturday as expected.
Different seats, different crowd, same beer prices, different set list, no Jake.
Our phriends two rows behind us were told a couple time to sit down. Heard of another group of phriends told to stop hooting and hollaring between songs. Had a quite a few empty seats around us and in the vicinity.
Bubba did mention he would keep going as long as we kept coming so sure sounds like he is gonna keep going.
Parking lot compared to Saturday..well there is no comparison!!!!

off the hook..hope some of you stopped by, caught some beads and listened to Bob Karwin rack a phew songs off....Good time to be sure!!!!!!
My feet finally thawed out at 1 a.m.....burrrrrrr it was cold and wet....but Bubba in the rain!!!!!, chalk up another new experience for the posse!!!!

We made it Thursday and Saturday and both had their highlights for us!! Thursday's show was amazing as all of you have said - did anyone else hear Jimmy say . . . "see you in Paris in September!"? Everyone around me kept looking at each other with their mouth open.
Saturday's lot was much more adventurous - hope you didn't have to use the bathroom - what a nightmare. People were getting tickets for peeing on the fence.
Never saw Jimmy in the pouring rain - we loved it - I exchanged cigarettes for a poncho and was happy as could be.
Life is great.
Saw some old friends and meet some new - keep on keeping on Jimmy!!

Surely, he didn't mean Paris, TEXAS?

Hmmmm....I haven't been to a tour stop outside of the U.S. yet...

The other question would be, did he mean a tour stop, or did he just mean that he's going to Paris in September for vacation?

Bumper, thanks for the touching post.

I attended both shows and both were an amazing time!
Thursday's show was second to none. I've been to 30 + shows and there is not doubt it is in the top 3!
Saturday was a classic sight. 30,000 people dancing to FINS in the rain. WOW!! with how many peolpe come to the show for the party and not to watch Jimmy I thought we had a lot of troopers in the audience.
All of us in So Cal my may leave Lakers and Clipper games at the begining of the fourth quarter or leave Angels and Dodger games in the 7th.
I want to say Way to go So. Cal to stick around and watch Jimmy in the rain!
