Bubba Phan, so sorry we didn't get to meet. I noticed Tafor's flags as soon as we pulled in the parking lot. Once we got set up, my sister and I went walking down that way. I saw Heather's jello shooter sign and knew I was in the right place! We were set up between the BN group and the Parrothead Club. I don't know if you saw a tiki bar with two large margarita glasses with the pump balls in them, but that was us.We also had the washer game in front of us. We ended up not driving my car but riding with others, so my hubby could finally attend a concert without having to be DD. He thoroughly enjoyed himself! Maybe next time we can meet, cause there WILL be a next time!

Heather, the jello shooters were delicious. Thanks for sharing! Kerri, thanks for doing the cups!

Oh, if any of you are in the Charlotte area, Gastonia has a downtown concert series. On June 29th, the Key West band will be playing and they do Buffett. Saw them for the first time last year and they were great. The time for the concert is 5:30-9:00, they sell beer, wine and food during the concert. The concerts have been a lot of fun in the past years.
Wishing every month of the year could be June

Good evening all!!!

I just wanted to check in and say that I (Mike) along with my girlfriend (Rebecca) had the best time meeting/getting to know you guys. Contrary to some of the posts in the last few days, being a "born again BN'er" was probably the best thing that could have happened to me this Buffett season. Although I have not been posting on here enough to know all of your screen names to thank you personally for all of your warm greetings and tremendous genuine southern hospitality on Sunday... I could have not imagined a better scenario. (yeah, the parking attendants were terrible, but what can ya' do?) I look forward to continuing to post on here and if any of you all ever find yourselves in Charleston give us a shout.

Gonzo, I have had several dreams about your Margaritas since returning to reality. Does that mean I have a problem?

Bubba and Phil, hanging out with you guys was great... to reiterate what some have already mentioned, it was almost as if we had met before.

Tafor, thanks for putting it all together with bubba, hopefully we shall meet again when you are in prime "bomb" mode.

Michelle, please let me know if/when you get a job as principal.. it won't be soon, but if I ever have kids... I will have to re-locate. (btw: you need to work on your bean bag game throwing skills!)

Thanks again for such a great time everyone!

-Mike

Yep that's about right...even my wife (a non BN or BW person)commented about the non-parrothead attitude y'all encountered at the tailgate. But this is what happens and this is why I rarely post here. Amy & Jay's set up was the best and for not knowing us and our club from Adam, they welcomed us and set up and partied and got on the big screen with us. Did the BN CHarlotte Clique do that? Take a look at the first page of this thread, I was on the original list but since I didn't get on here every day to chat I guess I was brushed aside. Well I don't care. I have now have 8 new friends Jay & Amy, Kristy, Joe, Terry and her husband. Oh and Shane & Steph. It's really a shame that BN has become this, it never used to be. Don't bother with any excuses or whatever it still comes down to rudeness and cliques around here and Amy we weren't in "the loop" 8) we welcomed and encouraged anyone to join us, THAT'S the Parrothead way.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that there is a vine for Sunday night's concert! I should be getting the cd by the end of this week or early next week from him and will be passing the discs on after that.. if you want to get on the list, just add your name to the concert trading post.
if you've never done a vine - the original disc will be sent to you from the person ahead of you on the list (You should PM them with your information). Important to PM the person next on the list prior to getting the CD's so you can pass the original along to them.
There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning

And most importantly--Greetings Mrs. Cocotel! 8)
i don't know if i met you ? we introduced ourselves to the table that was bn. the same table that lauren was at? that was at boardwalk billy's. great place! just very snobby bn people.. sorry. i love the majority of you. but that table was very rude. we were just trying to introduce ourselves. very rude.

i have never said that about bn'rs before. but, it was bad.

sorry i brought this up but.... :o
Wow!! :o

Hi tallship.....It's Amy, isn't it?......

I'm sorry that you feel you were being slighted in any way at Boardwalk Billy's. :( I certainly hope that it is not any behavior on my part that caused you to feel that way.

I don't know what time you arrived there but Phil and I got there at approximately 4:45. At that time, Chris (tafor) was the only other from BN there. Many others trickled in over the course of the next several hours. We had planned to only stay a couple of hours but didn't want to miss any opportunity of meeting anyone.....we ended up leaving about 10 or 10:30. I have no recollection of having met you or Jay but I must admit that I had been sick in bed the entire week and was pretty tired. On Saturday morning, I wasn't even sure I was gonna be able to make it to the show. I met more new people that night than I have ever met in a single evening and I do admit,, it was tough to keep up. As the evening wore on, Boardwalk Billy's became more and more crowded and, as you know, was very loud with the live bands that were playing throughout the night. The place was packed full by the time it got dark. I spent a good portion of time prowling the place trying to let anyone from BN know where we were congregating. I must admit, that there was a group of BNers who had been posting on this thread religiously for about 6 weeks, making plans, organizing, exchanging info for tailgating. I personally handled the contact list and, if memory serves me correctly, you chose not to be included on that list or participate in discussions about this phlocking. That is fine but, it was only at the 11th hour, the middle of last week, that you showed any interest at all in meeting up with anyone. This was after all the PMs I sent you were completely ignored. I admit that many there felt like we had already known each other for years and perhaps that is what caused you to have the experience you had. It has been my experience in life that, relationships don't just happen, they take effort.

Again, I'm sincerly sorry if there was any action on my part that made you feel anything but welcome. :( I was doing the best job I could, under the circumstances. I'm sure if you felt I, or anyone else, was being rude to you, it was something that was completely unintentional. I welcome you to PM me anytime you wish and hope to have the opportunity to meet you in the future!

Lauren

no! as a matter of fact.......... you shook my hand and introduced yourself. no big deal! :D but when i told the rest of the table my board name.............i don't know who the big blond was......she busted out laughing and i was a peice of crap. i did not take kindly to that.

but whatever.....................it was a great show!!!!!!!!! :D and i'm glad i got to meet some of you. :D :D
....i just wanna live happily ever after

Ya know, this is deplorable.......I don't need this in my life and won't be back.

Those who know me know how to reach me should they choose to. I have been a member here for almost three years and have never had a problem with a single person until one day ago. Thanks ya get for trying to help out with the legwork of planning a phlocking, I guess.

Personal attacks on people on an open forum with no questions asked from people you have had virtually no contact with?? Is that the Buffetnews way?? It's not my style. :(

Alright, I feel that I need to state my opinion of the phlocking.

I for one, felt less than welcomed by the Charlotte crowd. It seemed to me that because I had not participated in the lengthy pre-concert thread that we were not members of that particular group. THe group was very self-contained and for me, hard to get into, which is VERY different from the past phlockings that we have been a part of. We were disappointed, but in true parrothead fashion, we found another group and had a great time. We had no idea until noon Saturday that we were going -- it was a true BN spur-of-the-moment road trip.

Thank you to Kristi & Joe, Amy & Jay, Bruce & wife and Shane & Steph -- it was a pleasure and a hell of a tailgate.

Are you kidding me?

I don't get it. Is this high school? So and so didn't pay attention to me...blah blah blah...parrothead way...whatever.

Look, if I was rude or standoffish , it's because I was sick.

My friends are new to this whole thing, and my wife was worried aout me.

To complain about not being involved when it is your own fault is crazy. No one that I met Sat or Sun shunned anyone. If we didn't roll out the red carpet, I'm sorry.

Those of us who did get to know each other here on BN did want to meet each other more than others. That's NORMAL!!! We felt a connection to each other from our conversations.

In life there are twists, turns, good times and bad times.
It is how you react to all of these things that make us who we are.
Now we can post, PM, email, etc. until our hands turn blue about who did what, said what, acted this way, was rude, who was welcoming and on and on it can go.
I for one know that I know that I know there was a good time not only at BWB's on Saturday but in and throughout the parking lot all of Sunday.
If anyone was snubbed, laughed at or whatever, it should in NO WAY give anyone a "complete" picture of who this group truly is.
All a person has to do is take a little while and sort through the pages upon pages of postings to see who we have become.

If your going to live by the lyrics in most of Jimmy's songs you learn this attitude for everyday life.

This IS and always WILL be a great group of pholks who will "migrate" in this crazy world we live in and make the most of whatever comes our way!!

G.Morning Cocotel & Gonzo .If I was rude or insensitive someone please let me know.I did not mean to be. Coco how is Maria today ? Gonzo if you felt like I did you were sick .I am still not up to par yet.Must not have been the Yager afterall. Although that also could have been a factor. Again I hope I was not one of the so called rude people I tried to welcome everuone & even bought over a couple of non BN people so they could enjoy the phlock . Chris

Good morning everyone! I'm just reading through and this is unbelieveable. I'm with Gonzo, I feel like I'm listening to my daughter's friends gripping and complaining about who won't play with who (and they are 13 and 14 yr olds). This is so immature. Like I tell her all the time, you have to be a friend to have a friend! Anyone that came by my tiki bar, I spoke to and offered a jello shooter (although I didn't have as many as some). I don't know what else I could have done. We were just ONE group of BNers that had planned to get together, not THE ONLY group and we made it clear that anyone could join that wanted to, even those that waited until the last minute. I guess we have to remember, you can't please all the people all the time, or whatever that saying is. There are always going to be those that complain, just for the sake of complaining, just like they're complaining about ticket prices, the weather, the venue, umbrellas, cameras, etc.

Mirrorthatlies, I live close to Gastonia and would love to see the Key West band. Where will they be playing? We have an After Five thing in downtown Hickory on Friday nights but mostly it is local bands playing. If anyone is going to be there that does the Buffett cover music, I'll let you know.

Deb,

If you are near where the Key West band plays, be sure to go if you can. They are really good. They are local to me-based out of Roanoke and I have heard them several times.

Chris-Daughters are fine, thanks. Amanda flew back to Jacksonville on Monday. Sis in law is still talking about the parking lot. This was her first Buffett concert and she was blown away.
