I would ask him why he doesn't play fewer "standards" in concert and play more obscure stuff. Honestly, does he really think that his fans are going to feel cheated if he doesn't play "Let's Get Drunk and Screw" or "One Particular Harbor" for the zillionth time? I can see the need to play "Margaritaville," "Fins," "Cheeseburger," and a few others regularly but some of the other stuff he does over and over again doesn't seem necessary at this point. I'd like to think that after all these years Jimmy's fans are appreciative and loyal enough that they don't need to hear "Come Monday" every time they see a show and that they won't leave disappointed or cheated if Jimmy didn't play it. Jimmy has such a vast catalog of outstanding material it's a shame he doesn't explore it a little more in his live shows.

I'd ask him to play "Tin Cup Chalice " in Charlotte for my 26th wedding anniversary!

I would ask him if he would skip the Aug 12th show at great woods and play at my wedding just an hour north. I'll be at the show on the 10th and be happy to give him a ride! Beer's on me and I'm sure we could pay him double what we're gonna pay the DJ

COME ON! Gotta be worth his while! Hmmmm play Great Woods for crazy cash or watch a newly wed couple dance to his music? Seems like a no-brainer to me

I would ask him to play 'When the Coast is Clear'... grew up in a beach town too, and love the way it feels.
Where is the winery... is it here in CA? we like to do weekend trips to different wine grape growing regions.
Jimmy (my Jimmy) would just want to go sailing and sailing and sailing. He says the main problem with sailing in the Pacific here... now, he's not knocking it as he is happy just that he can keep sailing... is that the water is so darned cold. We had been used to that pale turquoise 85 degree water you know. But he says it is pretty neat to see the whales and sea lions and dolphins when sailing. (Down island, we most saw big sea turtles.) Here people don't even surf without wearing full body wet suits. Pictures show it being so warm here, but it really isn't warm. It's just not real cold.
I would also like to know if he likes palm Beach more than Key West?

I gotta agree with quiet and and shy on this and I'd lead the lynch mob to find that wedding!!!And Captain, what are you thinking getting married during a Great Woods show.....why not get married in the parking lot?:

An hour north huh? That puts you anywhere between Burlington and Nashua (and towns that also are an hour away and along that latitudes).

If you have listened to his real early stuff he was sort of country then. He started there. He always has said he liked his songs to tell stories, like the Canadian folk singer Gordon Lightfoot whom he admires. And then he likes blues and old fashioned 40s stuff... he draws from lots of sources. You have got to listen to the whole of his work... at different times he's just following different 'song lines' as he refers to them. He is fun, but there is a lot of intelligence there. Look at all the Brian Wilson references in his stuff. It's 50 years and more of hearing and absorbing music.

Jimmy has made a distinction between country and folk, he considers himself to have folk vs. country roots...he went to Nashville to get started simply because he didn't have enough money to get to LA.

My question would be...what ever happened to the "Ask Jimmy" idea and questions?

Sounds like a hell of a party Capt. and the best of luck to you. My wife and I actually met in the parking lot at Great Woods in 1996 at Buffett! Quite a funny story I might add. If I wasn't gonna be at the show on the 12th, I'd bring the tequila....CONGRATS!!!

Thanks! Not gonna share the funny story? I'll be at the show on the 10th, took a little convincing to allow THAT for my bachelor party.... wasn't gonna try pushing my luck by pushing the wedding back a weekend to see both shows
