I get there and my heart starts pounding, I freak and get out of line. I don't want to do this this time.

I was the same way until the last couple of years. Last fall was my first looping coaster. When your in line try to keep your mind elsewhere look at all the kids riding. (Find your happy place) I have found Capt. P advise is right. Just scream like hell & close your eyes if you need.

Go to Cedar Point in Sandusky OH. Handcuff yourself to Ragtop W. let him have the key, and the roll of duct tape.

you'll be riding the bullet like a pro by the end of the day. :D

Loved 'em as a kid. No way I'd go on one, now. :o :o They're gonna break while I'm on it, I just know it. I like the Merry-Go-Round and the Ferris Wheel. :)

They don't allow people over 90 on them anyway...
Larry had a chance to ride both the Whirlwind AND the Wonder Wheel the first day they were open... :D

Give me the full run.. corkscrews inside and outside, long runs and abrupt drops, turnin' and burnin' on a coaster is cool as heck. :D

Watchout for ripsaw falls @ Universal - it is a lot bigger drop than it looks from the outside...we went on it a few years back and as we rounded the bend you get a look at how far down it is....my wife was screaming to get out for the rest of the ride.

It was me, her and some random japanese dude in the log...me laughing, my wife screaming and the startled rabbit japanese dude!

It was a blast! Oh and dueling dragons doesn't have any "stomach drops" that I remember...

my six year old recently rode everything that the Magic Kingdom had to offer, from Space Mountian, Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain but those rides are kinda tame compared to most roller coasters.
It was first time riding Space Mountain since I was a kid and it seemed a lot faster and better to me now.
I love them, even recently rode the one at the county fair that had what looked like rent-a-bums working it.

It used to be! They had beer carts all over the place. Out of control drunks ruined that. They have one place in Frontiertown, and a few of the resturants....that is it.

Here's my advice:

1. Go to the bathroom before you get in line

2. For me, at least, much of the fun is simply the anticipation of the ride. By the time you get on and strapped in, it's all over but the shoutin'! (which is a good part too)

3. Don't look down! Keep your eyes focused straight ahead (even if that means staring at the sky :o ) I am afraid of heights and this helps me.

4. As stated above, SCREAM, SCREAM, SCREAM (UPHILL, DOWNHILL, CURVES, LOOPS, ANYTIME!!, JUST SCREAM!!! :D :D :D

5. Remember - it's gonna be O.K.!!

Yep, that place is great for beer and brats. I havn't been to Cedar Point in 4 years, which is kinda sad because I live an hour away. I used to have a season pass every year. There's 3 new coasters I havn't been on.

Sounds like I missed out with the beer carts. Beer and coasters has never upset my stomach.

We used to live 30 mintues away...always had passes....was a cheap evening once the passes were paid for! I miss it....these other parks just don't hold a candle to CP.

They got rid of the carts in.....the late 80s I believe.....was great because I was grandfathered in for beer before they raised the age to 21.....lol

Roller Coasters are the best.....I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them!!!!!!

I'm also terrified of heights......the first roller coaster I ever stepped foot on was at Busch Gardens in Tampa. It went round and round, side to side and upside down.....I was white as a ghost afterwards, but I fell in love with the adreneline rush! :D

Just relax and have fun.....and definately scream.

A few years ago, Larry and Ryan went to Universal while I stayed at Disney.
I get a call from Larry---he says they are on the Mummy and it's broken. They can't get off. They have to wait for the bars to be released from the seats. :o
They finally get off and are walked through the ride and outside. 8)

Next day, he wants to know if I want to go back and ride....I did
And I hate rollercoasters......there is NO WAY I go upsidedown. :x

I too hated roller coasters as a kid. Now they are my favorite. Pamesoo has good advice. I would only add that for me accepting the anxiety before getting on the ride is part of the rush. Don't fight it, but find ways to lesson it so that you can still enjoy the thrill. What works for me is to find the biggest roller coaster and ride it first; after that the rest is just child's play. I also like having someone with me;especially in line. You know misery loves company, and all that.

Good luck and tell us how it went. 8)
