Just learned in my Metro PHC newsletter of a beach bar called OBW at 20 West 38th Street, between 5th and 6th (a/k/a Ave of the Americas) which is one block east and about 5 blocks north of MSG....a short walk.
It is owned, I'm told, by longtime parrotheads who are hosting a pre-concert party on the afternoon of 9/14. Website is
www.obwnyc.com
I think I'll check it out. Anyone who wants to beat the rush hour getting downtown to MSG from Mo's, might want to grab a cab down around 4 o'clock and stop in for one last drink and to meet even more parrotheads, probably mostly of the New York area variety!!
See y'all in 11 days!!

Shouldn't be that bad, given you don't take any bags.

The only things I'm taking with me is a wallet, binoculars and throw away camera(s). Want to take pictures of my new friends in all their regalia.

I hadn't thought about that. I thought they'd only bother you if you took them out during the show to take pictures.

It really depends on the night. The smaller the better, and if you are female they usually don't have women to pat down women so the guys don't really do much.

So a small disposable tucked in an obscure pocket might be the way to go? I am less interested in taking pics at the show, and more interested in pre- and post-party shenanigans

The last few concerts I went to at MSG they didn't pat anyone down at the gates. They were checking bags but if I had a camera small enough to fit in my pocket I would have gotten in with it.

You didn't hear this from me...... If you're female (like me) stick the camera in the cleavage of your bra. Even if you are patted down, no one can pat frisk that area. Trust me on this. Several summers ago, I worked security at Great Woods - this area of the body is off limits to pat frisking.

Larry, are those light for the towers just on for 9/11, or are they on for a few more days?

The last couple of years they only had the lights on September 11. I'm pretty sure that's the plan this year too.

On the subject cameras, if you are bringing kids, you might get it through, especially if they are younger.
