I'm really on the fence about the whole immigration thing... granted the illegal aliens do take jobs, etc., from full-fledged citizens, but a lot of them do work that no one else wants to do. If it weren't for all the migrant farm workers around here, the price of potatoes would be probably twice what it is now, or some farmers wouldn't be able to make it...

Granted, illegals probably shouldn't have the same rights as the average citizen, but the ideals this country was founded on... "All men are created equal" I'm torn....
I don't know if it is like that is all states, but here in Ga, they work the resturants, where HS kids would like to have jobs, and most construction jobs, house building, now are done by them.

I blame the employer....if they didn't hire them, perhaps not as many would come.

I'm way too tired right now to read all the posts but these are my feelings and if they are a repeat of anything already said I'm sorry. If they rub anyone wrong, I'm sorry. But they are my feelings.

I believe in the old saying when in Rome, do as the Romans do. If I were to move, or visit any foreign country I would hold that countries customs in the hightest regard. If I were in a situation where I heard that countries anthem I would stand in respect, and if I knew the words I might even sing along.

The Star Spangeled Banner, when adoped as our national anthem, was adopted in English, not Spanish. I believe the U.S. customs should be respected and the singing of it in Spanish is completely WRONG and disrespectful.

Exactly!

And President Bush said it perfectly today (for once):
"I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English," Bush said, in response to a question at a Rose Garden news conference.
"People who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English."

This seems really wrong to me........I am not prejudice, but I am American....anthems for countries should never be changed into another language......

while I'm on this.....can someone explain to me how a person who can not read or understand english get a driver's licence in CT????

I swear!!! I was in line a few weeks ago to take the eye test, and these 2 girls who did not understand what the cop was saying, had to have their friend translate into spanish his questions...they got their driver's licences......If you can't read the signs, how are you going to drive in this country?

I don't get it!!!
