Has anyone ever done this? Is it legal? I would like to try to record a live concert. How might one go about doing this? Thanks ahead of time.

As far as i know, its legal (like recording off the radio). I use a product called Total Recorder. You will have to google it, not sure where i downloaded it from. It cost me $20.00 and does a wonderful job. You can even set up a scheduler, so it can start and stop recording at a specific time. I usually record it in .wav format, and later use a file converter to convert it to mp3 , for my mp3 player. Hope this helps.

Heck yeah, lots of us do it! Pretty sure it is legal...Jimmy has even mentioned his bootlegs before. I also recommend Total Recorder...very easy to use...just run it through a couple of trial recordings before you actually attempt to record something you don't want to miss/mess up!

EDIT: Total Recorder is a PC based product and allows you to record from internet broadcasts (ie; RadioMargaritaville.com, SIRIUS.com, etc). I am not sure if you could record from a SIRIUS receiver to it? I record either via PC or my DVR and not my SIRIUS receivers.

Im guessing you two are talking about recording off RM.....off your computer...how is the sound quality and can you burn directly to a CD once you have dowloaded to Total Recorder? Thanks for the input.

there are plenty of programs that will record but for really good quality hook up the aux out on your sirius radio to the audio input on your comp. most have an aux in or mic in.
