Tour/city question...
I am not trying to get bashed for asking this, but I'm sure I will. The addition of the MSG show struck me with a question. Why is JB playing so many shows in the northeast while leaving much of the country starving?
Please consider the following: JB is playing the following within an approximate 1-5 hour drive of one another:
Mohegan Sun
Jones Beach
Camden
Bristow
2 at Great Woods
then MSG
Look, I'll admit I am a bit biased because I live in the southeast. But why so many shows up that way? I mean he's coming this way one weekend this year. I know there is a heavy concentration of PH's in the New Engalnd area and thsoe will probably be the first to scream bloody murder for me asking such a question. I'm sure I'll get the customary "well at least he's still playing" comment from several people. I understand that and am extremely grateful. But with 2 shows nearby (which both just happen to fall on my wedding weekend, dammit), and no Florida or other southeastern dates, it just kind of is hard to swallow since he used to play Lakewood twice a year, multiple Florida dates, Charlotte, Raleigh, and even Columbia in recent years.
I'll duck 'cuz I know this probably won't be pretty.

Re: Tour/city question...
Perhaps because the NYC is a hub for much of the north and east? Also, it could be where the $$ is. Remember he also has a house on the east end of Long Island that he can use as a hub to easily get to/from concerts easily. Just a few thoughts that came to my mind.
Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

Don't think anyone can give you an answer that would satisfy you?
And it's not necessarily up to Jimmy where he plays. Contracts and all that.
Shows in the last few years have been on the West coast, East Coast, FL, MI, WI, IL, and OH.
MANY states, including MO, CO, TN, ID
, have not been visited. But it's not always Jimmy saying, "Oh let's play there, Let's NOT play there".

i would have to agree with what others are saying on this topic.but would also like to add that maybe he is begining to follow the format billy joel has done this year, which is play more shows in a smaller concentrated area.in recent years he has skipped new york and this year is making up for it bigtime!!

I understand what your saying Ragtop Dawg.
For us living in the Atlanta, GA and Raleigh, NC area we have been spoiled.
Heck, he used to come to Walnut Creek, be booked for two nights and end up adding a couple more, some (many) years back.
The Northeast phlock is huge and I'm really happy for them because I'm sure that through the years they have had the same feeling. Just as those in states that have never been visited.

I heard he is making a trek like in 2001 to all the northern states like Minneapolis or St. Paul. Info I have heard is sometime in Oct. or early November at either the Target Center or Excel.
My wife has a big wig cousin that works for Clear Channel and that is what he told me. Nothing finalized yet as it is still in the planning stages.

i doubt it.. any loud noises might make the roof cave in.. or too much weight from a crowd might make it collapse.. thats why they let the icelanders play there.. no loud cheering and no crowds..job41475 wrote:I was suprised but thrilled about the addtion of MSG. It's perfect for me living right outside of NYC on Long Island but I can understand where the concern is. That being said, maybe he'll play Nassau Coliseum. haha

I wouldnt get to worried about it. There is plenty of time in 2006 to hit the Southeast. He has only announced two shows in Sept. and he himself has said he will be touring in the fall. Jimmy will be in our area soon enough. There is a HUGE parrothead following in the Southeast, specially in Florida and the Carolinas, so I dont see Jimmy just skipping over those areas for a whole year, but I could wrong, just my .2 cents.

I've heard conflicting reports about Jimmy's feelings on Nashville--some say he likes going back, some say he's still bitter about how Nashville (in general) has treated him throughout the years.
Anyone have any idea on which is more accurate? Specifically, has he been quoted saying anything along either of those lines? Just curious!

Oh jeez what a sh*thole. The loudest I ever heard it get was at a Rangers game, and three guesses who was making all the noise? And imagine trying to get beer with just the one concourse going all the way around.job41475 wrote:lol I was kidding. No Florida or Vegas this year.
I was told by a pretty substantial person to watch for Las Vegas (2 shows) in October...NYCPORT wrote:I can promise you 6 more dates, most likely a few more than that, to be added to this tour and they are not all in the Northeast.

the funny thing about it.. it's a good place for a show... great sight lines.. no obstructions.. you either walk up or down a level..jonesbeach10 wrote:Oh jeez what a sh*thole. Can we just exchange that for a second Jones Beach date?

It is a dump as you say but that being said it's not an awful place to watch something. I've seen many shows, games, events there and it's decent. Not fit for Jimmy though. I remember that place rocking when i was real young and the Islanders were winning all those cups but since then there hasn't been much excitement.
