HELP!

I mentioned in a previous post that I simply don't go. It's honestly not that hard and contrary to popular belief your life does go on. I'm as big a Buffett as you're likely to find but I haven't seen him in concert since the mid 1990's. That doesn't have anything to do with brokers (more like how most of his shows are usually on a weeknight these days when he comes to these parts [NC], which makes it hard for me travel to since I'm so far away from most of the venues he plays here). In any case, I feel those that help to support ticket brokers are part of the problem if you're helping to put money in their pockets and are definitely not part of the solution (which means they get NO money).hunttide wrote:So your telling me you've NEVER bought from a ticket broker? How to you get tickets to shows you want to see? Buffett, non-Buffett, whatever. . . I understand your stance, and agree, I just want to know what your solution is.
The same as how you've never put anyone down that believes in God? I'm merely stating my stance on ticket broker scum, no harm intended to the ticket buyer but there is such a thing as bad karma. Looks like it snuck up on this person.rednekkPH wrote:Ya gotta do what works for you. Not that this helps how to go about getting your destroyed tickets replaced, but you could look to buy replacement tickets from the ticket exchange right here on this web site. http://www.buffettnews.com/forum/viewads.php?t=45720 is the link for tickets for Atlanta. As the concert gets closer I am sure you will see more and more tickets for sale. If this doesn't work out and you are willing to chance it, just go to the concert, tailgate in the parking lot, and hope to score a pair right before the concert.
I have never used a ticket broker to buy tickets for a concert. If I am not lucky enough to score tickets through TM, I try to buy them from fellow fans with extras to sell at face value. And if this method doesn't work, I stay home and listen on radio margaritaville.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

I've seen Buffett almost 70 times and I've been to too many other concerts to count. I never bought tickets from a broker, always got them from ticketmaster. And like Jah, if I can't get them I stay home. There are concerts I want to go to, there aren't any I have to go to.hunttide wrote:So your telling me you've NEVER bought from a ticket broker? Well, being that AL shows are few and far between, my wife decided to do something nice and buy them for us since the chance of JB coming back anytime soon is very slim. I believe in karma, but not in the case of buying Jimmy Buffett tickets from a broker. . . something truly wrong will probably catch up with you later in life, but when it comes to spending money you earn on what you want to do, karma doesn't apply. . . You've been watching too much "my name is earl" . . you must be a carson daly fan.

Just so you guys know, this is the first show that I've ever bought tickets from a broker for. . . the other shows, we have received tickets via our local Parrothead club.
And yes, I agree with everyone, life goes on without going to a Buffett show, I was just trying to ask a question and get an answer. . . didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea.

Can you see the venue, date, serial numbers, or any other pertinent info on the tickets? I'm wondering if you brought or mailed the shriveled remains to TicketMaster and told them what happened, if there may be something to indicate what they are tickets for, and maybe they'd issue you replacements?hunttide wrote:They look pretty awful and definitely not usable. . . With all of the ticket fraud that's been happening in Atlanta the past few shows they wouldn't even consider letting us in with these.
I hope it works out for ya!

Not at all, I see ticket brokers as the bottom sucking scum they are. That's where the bad karma in this case is. You gave your hard earned money to one of them and got what you deserved by doing so. Guess karma couldn't wait in this instance.hunttide wrote:Well, being that AL shows are few and far between, my wife decided to do something nice and buy them for us since the chance of JB coming back anytime soon is very slim. Where did I tell the person how to spend it? Fact is, I didn't. Do I object to supporting ticket brokers? Yes, I do and I'm apparently not the only one. None of those things have anything to do with the music I listen to. If you consider it "endless purchases of crappy music nobody has ever heard of" that's also fine and it doesn't bother me in the least, especially since a great deal of that music was made by some of the same artists you listen to (including Jimmy Buffett).rednekkPH wrote:Exactly. HE spent HIS money. Who the hell are you or anyone else to tell him how he should spend it?
