Car Paint
Where do people buy their material to write on their cars for Buffett shows? I would like to be able to write on my truck for the show but haven't seen anything I would trust to not damage the paint. The U.S.S. Bachelorhood sets sail August 10th
And now I must confess, I could use some rest... I can't run at this pace very long.

doesn't it help if your rig is primer-grey first?rednekkPH wrote:Just give it the Krylon touch, then you don't have to re-do it before every show.

I hope PHs heed previous advice and have a designated driver if they are under the influence...then there is no need to take if off in that case.PA PAR8 HED wrote:Good idea to clean it off before the drive home...no reason to alert the local authorities that you are driving home from a Buffett show!
We've gotta roll with the punches
Learn to play all of our hunches
Makin' the best of whatever comes your way
Forget that blind ambition
And learn to trust your intuition
Plowin' straight ahead come what may.

It depends on where you are, but in Indiana, the state troopers used to sit by the on ramp and pull people over after the show- getting pulled over for suspicion of DUI sucks, even if you're completely sober. Better to wash it off.Piratical wrote:I hope PHs heed previous advice and have a designated driver if they are under the influence...then there is no need to take if off in that case.PA PAR8 HED wrote:Good idea to clean it off before the drive home...no reason to alert the local authorities that you are driving home from a Buffett show!

The one thing I would warn you NOT to do is use liquid shoe polish- The kind I'm talking about usually comes in a bottle with a sponge/applicator doodad on the top.
When a buddy of mine got married a few years ago, his father gave all us groomsmen a few of those bottles and had us write all kinds of stuff all over his car as a surprise after the ceremony. He was surprised all right...the polish came off the glass no problem, but on the painted surfaces it was darn near permanent. We had to take it to the car wash and scrape every last bit of it off by hand, damaging the car's finish in the process. His father ended up shelling out quite a few bucks to have the whole car's finish buffed out.

Thanks for the input everyone. Doesn't sound like I'll be painting the truck this year. I'm not putting any form of shoe polish on my truck. I was hoping there would be some other kind of product to use. Maybe a market that has not been cornered yet... hmmmm Margaritaville Brand Car Markers...... Jimmy!!!!! I got an idea:) Contact me and we'll market it together...... We can split the profits 70/30.... 70 you and 30 me.... OR just free concert tickets for the rest of my life for me and my friends and we'll call it even
Jimmy? You there?

Yep, the best brand of window chalk is at Walmart and I have it in:
orange
black
white
red
purple
green
pink
yellow
DO NOT PUT IT ON THE PAINT ON YOUR CAR !!!
Only the windows. The window chalk comes off easily by scraping it off with a razor scraper (the thingie that has a single edge razor in it!)
There is a new product called Dupli-Color Car Art Temporary paint.
It is a temporary aerosol paint that dries in a minute and won't wash off in the rain. The color rides on top of the surface, rather than etching into the substrate. The "pearls" of color are rain repellant, but wash off with water and agitation (a little mild soap wouldn't hurt). It's available at auto parts places, etc.
And you thought I was just a clown-headed dummie!
