shooting people is not an appropriate thing to joke about.

and....it's only baseball. you want to shoot a player because he cheats? what would you do to somone who hurts your family? make him be eaten alive by ants? what if someone punched jimmy in the lip? would you want him to be castrated and burned alive?
it's funny in a 'take him out behind the barn' kind of way which in my POV is OK to joke about. of course i'm not being serious about actually wanting harm to come his way. my most sincere apologies if that's really what you thought.
no, my bad. it just seemed like a serious post.
 really? i didn't think anything i ever said sounded serious.

Isn't the fact that he plays baseball reason enough to wish a stray bullet or two on him? Why am I asking you...of course it is!

And yes, I have a favorite team - the Cubs and Sammy Sosa is hated through most of Chicago now (and was even before he was shipped out of town).

It’s ironic how Barroid has become the persona of the entire “supplement” era of the greatest game. He’s still the only 500 Hr’s – 500 steals player in baseball. Go ahead and HATE him. Just remember who every YOUR favorite team is, there’s plenty of steroids, drug abuse, infidelity for each and EVERY organization. :o

When McGwire was chasing Roger Maris’s single season record and everybody knew he was on Andro, where was all the hate? :-?

What is Andro?:

Before you can truly understand this drug, you must know what it is exactly. Androstenedione, known as andro, is 4-androstene 3, 17-dione and is a steroid hormone that can be found in meat and some plants. Supporters of the supplement say that when it is used in the recommended doses, andro is converted to testosterone. Testosterone is helpful in bodybuilding as it aids the development of muscle mass. When taken orally in a 100 mg dose, andro has been shown to raise testosterone levels by more than 300%.2 Supporters claim that andro's effects are similar to those of testosterone, which include increased strength, increased muscle mass, better recovery from exercise, increased energy, and heightened sexual arousal.3 If these results are true, then andro would truly be a wonder drug but many people are examining the shaky history of the supplement and becoming increasingly suspicious of these claims. Home
History of Andro:

First developed in the 1970's by German researchers, it was given to German Olympic athletes to enhance performance in the games. However, some skeptics believe that the andro was in fact used to mask the presence of steroids so that the German athletes could pass their drug tests. This supplement first appeared in the United States in the mid 1990's.2 Since that time it has been a big seller in stores across the nation as sports superstars such as Mark McGwire have endorsed the product. Despite its popularity among the American public, many people in the science world still are skeptical of andro
.

I don't at all condone what's happened to baseball and all the sacred records that have been tarnished by these drugs. It just blows my mind no one gets half as p*** off at the Sheffields, Giambi's Palmero's and the list goes on and on and on....
My point is when Big Mac was chasing Maris... nobody cared about the sterroids. Just think it's percular when we as a society grow a conscience :-?
Bonds- walk him every time -not because he is a dangerous hitter - just to keep him from getting in close to Hank. McGuire would be catching the same heat if her were still playing. Modern day records are worthless. They play so many more games today. Hard to say what Babe or Maris would have done with more games.

By the way, if you watched the Giants and Phili game last night you would have heard that clown Joe Morgan hint that Babe technically cheated because he used an illegal substance - alcohol. Mentioned that Babe played during prohibition.

When Babe Ruth played the season was 154 games. They've been playing 162 games since the first expansion - 1961 in the American League (the year Maris hit 61) and 1962 in the National League - only 8 more than in the old days. Maris wouldn't have broken the single season record in a 154 game season, but 8 games per year is hardly a big advantage when you're talking about career records.

For some reason I thought that they played several more games today. There goes my theory - but I still hope Bonds fails.

Pitch him high and tight and then get him out with a low outside pitch.
I'm not even going to bother with the 'roid issue. That horse is long dead.

You may be right. I just haven't found any other posts naming other players, comments about beaning any other players, chin music for any other players, etc., etc.
You're right, there are a lot of other players who have used 'roids who don't receive the level of fan-hate that Barry Bonds does.

A big part of the reason Barry Bonds gets so much hate is because he is so blatantly in it just for Barry. He doesn't have enough concern for the fans/game/authority to even try to show respect, act contrite, be a little humble, etc. etc, etc.

When you add that kind of attitude to the fact that he's chasing some of the most sacred records in baseball, things go to a whole new level.

Big Mac sure had some faults, but at least he wasn't surly at nearly every news conference (even if he wasn't always friendly to all the fans.) I will say, though, it's a good thing he retired when he did...

Just my 2 cents...

It is what it is folks. Let the pitchers pitch and see who wins!!! Barry is one shy of Babe Ruth. No one gave Mark McGuire shith about a single season record. Hell if I remember correctly the whole country was behind him. Barry has not tested positive according to MLB standards. I believe that MLB should step up and take some heat. Until they do we should be excited that a record will be matched and maybe broken. Baseball is the American game. I remember the fervor with Hank Aaron back in the 70's. :D :D :D

What do cocaine, spit, methamphetamines, cork, steroids and pine tar all have in common? They are all part of a looooong history of cheating in baseball. Bonds has likely taken what is now a banned substance (but was it then? hmmmmm?) and added it to his natural talent which would have made him one of the best anyway.

You Bonds haters are just jealous he isn't on your team.

As to him being something of a stuck-up so and so ... ever heard of Pete (the abuser) Rose? Kirby Puckett has a notorious history of abusing women ... Stuck up just doesnt seem so bad ...

Nikki is at the game tonight and I hope she gets to see him tie the record.

I think the reason as to why we got behind McGuire and Sosa in 98 was because I think baseball was still reeling from the strike 4 years before and needed a season like 98 to put it back on its feet (Remember that was the year the Yankees won 114 games plus playoffs and they represented the opposite of what McGuire and Sosa stood for). Plus they were personable guys when it came to the media.

However, Bonds has never been friendly toward the media yet it seems he wants them to be friendly right back. If the media can take down the President of the United States, they can most surely take down a baseball player with an overgrown head. So as to whether I'm jealous and would want him on my team, the answer is NO! If I have to have a roid boy that baseball is supposedly filled with, I'll take a guy like Giambi who have admitted to steroid use, a la "I'm sorry, but I won't exactly say for what" press conference," and move on and play baseball.
