Ooooh, I'm GLAD you said that; church often slips my mind, but my mom loves it!
Yep. Same here. There's times we've gone to an 8am service w/ my mom and gone over to my MIL's church and gone to a 10am service at hers.

all this talk makes me miss my mom sooo much...i just want to go home

You could send ME a present, if that would make you feel better.
(I wish I could do something for my mom, too, Larry.)

Thinking the same thing right now.....it's very bittersweet for me.
Love having my kids think of me, but sooooooooo miss my Mommy.
I would even go to church for her.

After several years of being on the outs with my mother and communicating with her only through my dad (which thankfully my dad finally put a stop to and made her sit down and talk to me), I make a point to always be sappy on mother's day (and father's day). I'm not a terribly sappy person, but I always get a card, s*** it up, and write a long speech about how much I love her and cherish her.
We actually celebrated mother's day last Saturday, and couldn't leave the house to get her or my mother in law anything, so hubby bought the cards and I wrote little speeches to my mom and my mother in law. Both of them cried. It was a good thing

It was better than any physical gift I could give them.

Don't cry......unfortunately, it's one of those things most of us will have to deal with.....I was so blessed to have such a great Mom....she made me laugh, taught to me to cuss, listened to me when I needed to talk.....and told me to shut up when I needed to stop.....most importantly, she taught me how to be a Mommy myself......if she hadn't been so great, I wouldn't miss her so much....so even the "missing her" part is a gift.

I will go and visit my mom, and we plan to ride in a bicycle rally together ... 25 miles! We will also go and visit my 97-year old grandmother. She has just survived pneumonia.
When your mom doesn't live in the same city as you and your kids do, it can be difficult to celebrate Mother's Day with everyone on the same day, if your kids can't come with you.

One year we took my Mom and Dad out to eat on Mother's Day. I would love it if someone would cook for me on Mother's Day or any day for that matter!!!!

Sorry.. Mom is Mormon and I'm not going to church for 4 hours..
BTW next time I hit Dallas I will block out a couple of hours and cook for you and Family... And Bill too..

Mom and I will be celebrating together this year. My birthday falls on mothers day! I love it when that happens.
I'm going to get her a mailbox. She complained last time I was up there that Daddy had duct taped theirs together...
She also doesn't want useless stuff, but she always appreciates the crocheted scrubbies, crochet top dish towels that hang from the cupboard and I get her some home made soap with a hand knitted wash cloth.
Can't wait to get up there. We will play dominoes or Skip Bo with her. She LOVES games.
I consider myself soooo lucky. My folks are both in their 80's and doing pretty darn well.

I may be a little slow, but I can take a hint. I'll pick up some macaroni and cheese on the way home. The good kind with the REAL cheese, not the powdered crap.
I'll even get some grape kool-aid since you can't drink the Thunderbird.
Do you want shells or spirals?

Mothers Day I either call or see her and then I tell her she was right.

Since my mother has been so keen in highjacking other family member's iPods for trips, my dad, brother and I all pitched in and got her a 2GB iPod. Even put of her songs on it to spare her the trouble of trying to figure it all out on the computer. Problem is that she found it today, but she was very happy none the less.

Always a card and a call, since I live out-of-town. My dad and brother will take her out to brunch.
One year, when I was in town I took her golfing. It ended up being a very windy day that started sunny and then quickly switched to a thunderstorm when we got as far as possible from the clubhouse. We were both quite a sight with our dusty-turned to mud faces outlined by sunglasses as we rode in with our rescue ranger.

Hey bro!! Good job with Mom!! We sent a card and gift certificates to Golden Corral. Will probably call her. You know she loves it when you cook. It is hard to come up with new stuff to do for them. Happy Mother's Day!!

I am now super-daughter...so to speak!

Mom had her pajama-gram waiting for her when she got back from drinks after work with friends.
When she saw the box, with the return address (and logo) as the Vermont Teddy Bear Company, she thought we had gotten her one of those. She was a bit upset, as in "What the hell do I need a teddy bear for?" upset. (Her favorite talk radio station has lots of ads for the teddy bears, she hadn't heard any for the jammies.)
Needless to say, she opened the box and was pleasantly surprised. She says the quality is excellent, I choose the perfect style, color and size and the slippers are very comfy and she can easily see this becoming one of her favorites. She also loved the hat boxes they came in.
Even better, she can't wait to tell all her friends about the unique gift, rather then just another bunch of flowers (though she was also quick to tell me that she does like them and not to stop sending them from time to time....LOL!).
Now I just have to start figuring out what I am going to get her for Christmas now!!

Usually my bro and I pitch in and get her something big.... this year he didn't discuss presents with me and got her an ipod shuffle... worst part.. he gave it to her early... lol... my mother is impossible to shop for.. if she wants something she buys it. This year is the first year that my brother has to work on Mothers day so I am going to put on my pink I <3 Mom shirt that I wea every year and we are going out for drinks and lunch... my treat... and then we will do whatever else she wants to do... it should be fun! (and I promised not to talk about the wedding)
