Post by rogue »

We just moved to Orlando,Fl and we wanted to do something fun and keet friendly for the 4th of July. We Don't want to join the rest of the world with the mouse, or the other amusement parks. Does any one have any advice??? Do's and Don'ts welcome. Thanks.

The Pepsi 400 is on the 1st, so I would recommend against going on the 3rd.

what age keets?

The beach is always a good choice. Cocoa beach is only on hour away. The pier is fun for older keets, Lori Wilson Park is wonderful for younger ones.

If you want to see fireworks without going to one of the parks; Dr Phillips high school (across Turkey Lake Rd from Universal) opens up their football stadium for an excellent view of the Universal fireworks show. Lake Eola Park (downtown) is a good, but crowded, place to watch the downtown show

For older keets, airboat rides over on the St Johns river are a great way to see 'real Florida' plants and critters

May be a little busy on a holiday, but canoeing on the Wekiva is another wonderful way to see non-themepark Florida

That's a REAL nice place, you need to hook up some of us BN'ers!

You could go to St Augustine, very nice, family friendly, good food, Fireworks. It may be too late for any hotels, but could make a good (but long) day trip. New Smyrna is nice too.
