I was referring to the foul language, but I've gotta say, that initial statement certainly doesn't exhibit a very pleasant attitude... but you said yourself, you don't apparently care.Jahfin wrote:Not sure what I was to make of someone callling "Foul!" on my remarks.Tiki Bar wrote:Not sure what you're talking about... my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek though!Jahfin wrote:Either you have an extremely selective memory or read this site with blinders on. I say what's on my mind, it's called honesty and no, it's not always pleasant but would you rather have someone sugar coat their opinion about Buffett or be straightforward? As for the "foul" language, there's that selective BN rulemaking (or should I more accurately say "bending") at work again as I've seen LOTS of other people do the exact same thing, seemingly without consequence. And yes, I know the drill about bringing this sort of thing to the attention of phjim and the Mods via PMs. I've heeded that advice recently and it all seemed for naught, so no need to post the everchanging BN "rulebook". Thanks though.Tiki Bar wrote:I was referring to the foul language, but I've gotta say, that initial statement certainly doesn't exhibit a very pleasant attitude... but you said yourself, you don't apparently care.Jahfin wrote:Not sure what I was to make of someone callling "Foul!" on my remarks.Tiki Bar wrote:Not sure what you're talking about... my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek though!Jahfin wrote:Either you have an extremely selective memory or read this site with blinders on. I thought about all the different variables that would tie into such a decision:
-- Well, I WOULD be on a beach, so I would want to take some good beach music.
-- But is has to be an album that I can enjoy ALL the tracks.
-- Do I take his older music (A1A, Havana Daydreamin', Livin' and Dyin' in 3/4 Time, You Had to Be There), or his more modern music (Banana Wind, License to Chill, Tuesdays / Thursdays / Saturdays, Feeding Frenzy, Fruitcakes)???
-- By the way, Boats - Beaches - Bars - Ballads, DOESN'T count as an album...you can take one of them, but not all.
I'm just curious as to which album you guys / gals would take...
I'm still thinking about this one....
I would say it's typical of BN, particularly when I've seen dozens of others use "shlt" in their posts but I'm the one that's singled out for it. Last I checked, that isn't "foul" language anyway. Putting an "i" in place of the "l" would be though but I didn't.OystersandBeer wrote:I thought Tiki handled it well. Good job.
Don't be surprised when you see a new stipulation to the rules saying you can approximate such words. Of course you have to remember the use of the word "d*m" is forbidden here.

I agree it sucks if they single you out. I don't know - haven't kept up. But I think Tiki handled it well by not getting upset like so many others on this site have done in the past. (And I don't mean Jah when I say that. I think Jah's responses are honest. I'm talking about the people Jah p*** off.)

But I don't single you out, you just perceive it that I do. The method I used was what I'd call a "hand slap", and I do it when I see it, by anybody. Most people either don't respond, or say "uh oh" with a smile, or what have you. This mole hill has turned into a mountain, but I'm long over it.Jahfin wrote:I would say it's typical of BN, particularly when I've seen dozens of others use "shlt" in their posts but I'm the one that's singled out for it. No worries mon!
Thanks for the kudos OystersandBeer! I'll be thinking about you in about a month when I visit Key West for the 1st time. (Actually, your name runs through my head multiple times a day... one of my favorite song lines!
Now... auntie's steering us back on topic...
Me? I really think I 2nd the Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays notion, but even more likely, I'd fine tune and burn my own. Or is that not allowed?

I think that a better question would be: If you were stranded on a deserted island, could you survive solely on Margaritaville branded items or items hawked by JB?

Well when I posed the question of which album, I didn't really think of someone being able to burn themselves a CD, due to the fact that I wanted people to try to decipher from all of JB's albums and pick out that ONE album that they could live with if it were the only album they could have...so I guess you wouldn't be able to burn a copy. Sorry! T/R/S is a great selection though!! It seems I sing those little extras from T/R/S even when I listen to other versions (even the studio versions and at the concerts!). I might be the only one that does that though!

Well, that is a good question, just as many have been brought up throughout this thread. So I must think of an answer. I would say that you, along with the CD, would be able to bring a portable CD player. That way you can play the music...why not make this deserted island a dream world while we're at it!!
PHINS UP!!

I always wondered how they could build a coconut radio, have the Harlem Globetrodders on the island, and still not have enough brains or technology to get off...

Then I'm bringing a TV and a DVD player, along with Live at Fenway.
