If you haven't moved everything to an IPOD by now you may as well be Amish.

Whew!! I cant tell you how much of a relief it is to hear what you folks are accumulating!! It doesnt mean i'm not nuts, after all, but at least i have company.

I've only been a parrothead for 8 or 9 months, but the amount of stuff accumulating is already becoming alarming...all the CDs, videos, his books, books about him, assorted magazine articles over the years, tour itineraries, cocotels, posters, etc etc, not to mention the tshirts , hats, and all the other stuff

...and I havent been to my first concert yet!

But I'm not alone!!! It is so good to hear that!!!

Well about half of my Buffett stuff is on iTunes. As for CDs and DVDs, they are scattered all over the place: car, various CD players, by the computer, but do have a "Main Base" of sorts on its own rack by the main CD player that plays throughout the house. Books are in various bookcases throughout the house.

I don't manage my "stuff" very well, but I started collecting furniture by an artist named David Marsh, who has a cool philosophy about life and decorating. I guess you would call him an ethnic or folk artist.

David Marsh began making small wooden boxes and selling them at flea markets and then moved on to making high quality office furniture but quickly progressed to the whimsical folk style he still produces today. The furniture is handcrafted with old-style hand tools and decorated with paint, marbles and tacks. David sets the general style, but within its loose confines his craftsmen are free to experiment. Each piece is unique; its creators sign their pieces with carved names, symbols, nonsense words, and always, somewhere, the word "HA". That's to tell the customer, "if you don't love it, don't buy it," and to remind the worker, if it's not fun, don't do it.

These aren't the exact pieces I have...mine are basically blue, red, green, coral.

So my collection goes in my collection of shelves. (This reminds me; it's time to straighten this collection up!) My Buffett cds are all in one shelf that hangs on the wall by my computer. Buffett books are all on a shelf above the computer.

Buffett albums are all on the bottom shelf of a huge bookcase which is full of mostly Florida and Texas mystery writers.

My 1000+ cds are arranged with all the box sets on the top shelf. I keep every one of the jewel cases and refer to the liner notes and lyrics often.

Coral Reefer musicians and former musicians are on the next shelf.

Then all my tropical music artistst. Sunnyjim, Jim Morris, Hugo, Brent Burns, Key West Band...

Complete Texas artist collections: Jerry Jeff, Robert Earl Keen, Nanci Griffith, Lyle Lovett, Jack Ingram, Todd Snider

Then all my James Taylor and Carly Simon...mostly complete.

Then everything else alphabetized.

Bootlegs are a mess. Need organizing.

I also collect cookbooks and gardening books which have their own special shelves.

Most of the cassettes and vhs tapes are stored away in drawers and out of the way places. DVDs are all in wicker cabinet in TV room. No children so almost all the storage in the house goes toward our audio/video/reading material.

TIKI, I also have to listen many times with headphones. :)

Only 2 gb nano---could use upgrade. I play it on shuffle all the time during exercising.

Just got an I-DOG.  Ain't life grand!!!

I prefer to be plain. hard drives fail, iPods go south. Until they give me the option of restoring my library of tunes purchased from them in the event of an equipment failure, it's not worth $300 for a toy and $1/tune.

It looks something like this...(but in black and no handle. I don't have them alphabetical, but all the same artists are together by catagory..... similar artists together...like ROCK, METAL, CLASSICAL, BUFFETT (yes he has his own catagory!), BLUES.... you get the idea. I keep the liner / covers in the book too.

Do the liner covers fit in the same sleeve as the cd, or one adjacent to it??

This is what I intend to do, but the packrat in me, or whatever the anomoly would be called, will have a hard time disposing of the jewel cases! I was pondering it this morning, and didn't think I'll be able to do it!
If you seriously decide to get rid of your jewel cases, i use them for crafts and am always looking to snag some. then you know they won't go to waste! :) :) :)

Honestly- I throw stuff away. If I've read it, and it's not a book, it's getting trashed. If it's worth rereading, then it'll be online. Unfortunately, Tom does not share my willingness to jettison stuff, so we need another bookcase.

BTW, here's what happens when you don't hang a wall shelf correctly and put too much STUFF on it.

It fell all the way down the stairs and missed the clock, but I have lots of damaged "jewels."  Yes, I can laugh now.

You are a very smart woman! First, because you throw "stuff" away.

Second, because you respect Tom's needs.

There things in life worth worrying about- a book collection is not one of them.

We're pretty eclectic, but Buffett is probably the largest space sucker in our collection, due strictly to my 23 year obsession.

My DH is obsessed with the Beach Boys, as well.
Various other artists are sorted by type of music, and artist

We do the notebook thing as well as assorted shelving units.
I don't trust the Computer for anything permanent, either.
...it only takes once to learn that lesson. :o

:o oh... my... goodness!!!! (((((Nancy))))) It must be built well, since it doesn't look like it fell apart. He makes some cool shelving units!!

And how does this little fella sound?? Image

I saw it in a sale ad, and thought I should get it for work!

And Nicole... good to know!! I'll definitely keep you in mind!

All my stuff is just not JB items...but items relating to the ocean/island theme are mostly in "my room". Got the whole party atmosphere thing going on. Painted palm trees on walls, grass skirts for curtains, hanging parrots, music items etc. Got things in my van & a little throughout the house. I guess it is because i should be living where there is sand, sun & surf but alas I'm sort of Pa. bound most of the time. We do make our way to FL. for several weeks each yr that we can.

If you need some, pm me. I have shelves of empty ones (which I always walk by and think 'I need to throw them out', and then ignore them for another 6 months  Some are clear, some are colored.

The Buffett Bathroom is where I keep my stuff...pictures, Key West flag, margaritaville neon sign, Cheeseburger in Paradise menu, etc! Next up is getting the lyrics to my favorite songs up on the walls.
