you're going to give up Fingers Taylor for Nadirah....that's cool, I understand that. it's a tough choice, but I've already paid for my LMS entrance, decision made. Plus going to LMS helps out the LVPHC, thereby helping out “Christmas for Foster Kids”.
We signed up for LMS the day Dean announced it. Probably going there first since it starts early. I agree that Fingers with Stars on the Water is going to be fantastic. Nadirah and the Coral Reefers is going to be a great show also. You never know who might stop by for that show!!! That’s the great thing about Vegas…lots and lots of choices.

It sounds like the street party is going to more of a beach party this year also. [smilie=superkewl.gif] It's going to be another great vacation. Can't wait!

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking on this board for awhile and decided to sign up. My wife and I are headed to Vegas for my birthday and the concert on the 21st and would like to meet some other Parotheads while we're there. Where's the party?!

I can't wait for this concert! Four weeks seems like an eternity.

See you all in Vegas! :D

Welcome Aboard FOD!

Another PH birthday to celebrate!

Look's like there will be several parties to check out. On 10/20 Last Man Standing at Tommy Rockers sponsored by LVPHC and Nadirah at Margaritaville. On 10/21 Margaritaville street party and rumoured pool parties at Hooters and MGM.

Hope to see ya. Look for the Buffett News lanyards and name tags.

Welcome FOD!!! Is there a Naval analogy in that name? :D
Here's a personal note complete with breakdown, so bear with me.
The show next month will be my 20th. I'm sure I pale in comparison with some of you.
It'll be the 10th different venue in the 7th different state I've seen Jimmy and the Reefers.
Now here's the breakdown:
Nissan Pavilion, Virginia, 10 shows
Greensboro Coliseum, North Carolina, 2 shows
Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater, Virginia, 1
Merriweather Post Pavilion, Maryland, 1
Gaylord Entertainment Center, Tennessee, 1
RBC Center, North Carolina, 1
AmSouth Amphitheater, Tennessee, 1
Coors Amphitheater, California, 1
Citizens Bank Park, Pennsylvania, 1

Thanks for indulging me.
25 days until arrival in Vegas!!! Looking forward to meeting all of you!!!

Actually, it's an Air Force term. I'm a graduate of the Air Force Weapons School and was given the callsign of FOD. It's an acronym that was given to me because I was the first 40 year-old to graduate from my squadron. What's FOD stand for your ask? "Fu#$ing Old Dude" 8)

Sometimes it's good to be the "old guy." Anyway, as I always told my classmates (who were significantly younger), "youth and enthusiasm are no match for old age and treachery." :pirate:

See you all in Vegas! Cheers!

MGM Grand Garden Arena security question: Does anyone know if they use metal detectors at entrance to the arena? I haven't been since 2002 and don't remember.

I really don't want to have to walk my camera back to the hotel between the pool parties and the concert. Then go get it before the post-show events. thanks

I figure a venue like that would have them. They should offer lockers, like the court house....of course they'd need thousands of them. I guess that's what the hotel room is for  :x

yup - there are metal detectors... I don't think they're very sensitive at all though....

I asked in the 10/28 thread too. They made me realize that packing a plastic flask would be a good idea. Hard to know if the camera will get in though.

They also mentioned there may be a place to check my camera in for the time of the concert, even if I'm not staying at the MGM. If it's at the front desk, that's almost as close as my hotel (not really, but dang, is that a walk from the venue or what??), but is a good option.

they did let me bring in my disposable camera a couple of years ago. but they checked to make sure all the film was used...

so you're saying I need to fill the memory card, and somehow remove the 'delete photos' option from my camera? I'll look into that, though not very far.
