Jahfin wrote:Ever heard a band say this, "the more you drink, the better we sound"? Well, sometimes that may be true. And sometimes it does help if the band's suckitude level is unusually high but sometimes it has the complete opposite affect and only magnifies a band's inherent (and unshakable) suckiness. I hate when that happens.
Johnny and the Leisure Suits "Party Animals"

"Oh!
The more you drink
The less we stink
The more you drink
The less we stink, stink, stink

We're not leavin'
'Til you're heavin'
We're not leavin'
'Til you're heavin'

The more you drink
The less we stink
The more you drink
The less we stink, you see
Hey!
We are not human, we are party animals!

Oh!
The more you drink
The less we stink
The more you drink
The less we stink, stink, stink

We like to holler
We scream and shout oh!
We never sleep
We just pass out

You crack us up
You say we're sick
You crack us up
You say we're sick
And we say
We are not human, we are party animals!

Yeah, we're not leavin'
'Til we're heavin'
We're not leavin'
'Til we're heavin'
We're not leavin'
'Til we're heavin'
We're not leavin'
'Til we're heavin'"

Classic! Flashback to my good ol days!

The other day some "kids" were playing their rap on a boombox loitering outside the grocery store. I just had to find the countriest song I could (She Thinks My Tactor's Sexy) and blare it as loud as I could and drive real real slow in front of the store.

The country music world really must be in a very sad state if a song about your tractor being sexy is considered "the countriest" song you could find. How about a tune about having sex with your sister (or cousin). Or, cheating on your spouse. Now, that's country. Doing it with your tractor is just plain weird.

That's why I think it's funny that my kids complain that I listen to my music too loud! I turn it up, and they cover their ears and whine "Mommmmmmmmm! Turn it down!" Darn kids!

I like it pretty loud in the car when I'm alone. If I forget to turn it down before she gets in she'll say: "Are you deaf, or trying to be?"

In the summer she says she can hear me coming down the street, with my windows up!

Depends on what I'm listening to and where. In the car, it's loud enough you can't hear the cell phone ring and when you get home late at night and open the car door, all the dogs in the neighborhood get woken up :o oops

Other than that I want to hear and experience the music. I listen to all sorts of music, except rap. I want to hear the clarity of the guitar notes, the violin strings and the resonance of each piano chord struck.

I don't turn the volume up loud at home because I have neighbors.
I don't turn the volume up loud in the car because people a block away don't need to hear what I'm listening to.
I don't turn the volume up loud at work because a secretary sits right outside my office.
I don't turn the volume up loud anywhere because I know not everyone has the same taste in music as I do.
And most of all, I don't turn the volume up loud because I don't live in a vacuum. It's like telling people "I don't give a crap about anyone else as long as I get to do what I want to do."

Maybe I am getting too old.

Not sure who said it, but I saw this quote once:

"The first sign of maturity is the realization that the volume knob also turns to the left."

I tend to turn the stereo down quite a bit if I have my four-month old daughter in the car. But otherwise I play it pretty loud.
