Tips on the Tweeter lawn, friends?

Post by Another Jimmy »

Our family of 5 attending the August 10, 2006 - Tweeter Center - Boston, MA show. First time in Mass. All tips on parking, tailgating and getting the most out of the lawn dearly appreciated.
Hopefully, Jimmy plays his "only hockey song".
Cheers.

Used to live in Mass ans have seen Jimmy at Tweeter at least 10 times, most all on the lawn. never with younger kids though, the lawn can get a bit roudy so take note of that. Most recnet lawn viewings have been at Nissan pavilion in VA, but again if you are trying for the center be ready to be squished. I have had very good luck staying off to the sides as most PH's want to be center lawn. Aslo easier to get to concessions and the all important bathrooms.

As a gray hair PH we now opt for the seats, even though no one sits in them

Have a great concert, get to the lot early, get in side early, bring your blanket and have a blast. Cook out after, let the crowds move out first and do not be in a rush.

The advice so far is right on point. The parking lot can be daunting (and too crazy in spots) for really young kids as can be the lawn. Just hang out where you feel comfy. Walk about, make new friends, enjoy the atmosphere. We're incredibly lucky to have an outdoor venue. The concerts are great but truly it's the time I get to spend with friends old and new (esp. all the other PH's from clubs in New England) that is wonderful.

Bring lots of food, drink, sunscreen and decorations. Make it fun 8)

And if you want to get out quick, if you don't skip the encores, forget it. Just kick back, grab some munchies and a soda (your favorite libation if not driving) and wait for the crowds to move. It still amazes me how many people sit in their cars with engines running for an hour when they could take out a folding chair, turn on some tunes and chill.

Life's what you make it :D

There are no lawnchairs allowed, don't plan on sitting either, everybody stands, and it is a long way from the stage.

So the lawn area is not lower than the seated sections. I get the feeling that there is a wall or something. Just trying to understand the layout. Thanks

It's really an amphitheatre setup, the stage is at the lowest point and the lawn slopes upward from the seats. But as Zuke said it's a long way from the stage even if you stand right at the rail at the back of the seats.
The wall is at the back of the lawn, I think it's one of those noise suppressing type things.

Yep. You're better off watching the screens on top of the pavilion.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

duuuude... Jimmy's never recognized that recording of "The Ballad of the Bruins" as his. Some say it was really Rupert Holmes, others believe that Jerry Jeff paid a panhandler from Boyleston St. $5 and a bottle of Nighttrain to record it...

Basically Plan B was foolproof.

Nah, that panhandler has long since been gone. I think he was last seen somewhere near Congress Street.

For the love of Phil Esposito!

"Ballad of the Bruins?"
Dude, I thought New England's NHL team moved to Carolina?
Last seen hoisting the Stanley Cup.

See you at Great Woods, Aug. 12, friends.

New England's expansion hockey team moved to Carolina.. The "Original Six" team is still playing pretty much in the city they started in. :)

You're thinking of the Hartford Whalers. The Bruins have been in Boston since the NHL was founded.

Just funning you, Bruin fans

Post by Another Jimmy »

Sorry about that, Boston fans.
Only a Toronto fan can do that - at least you've won a Stanley Cup in the last 35 years.
Go Bruins!
See you at Great Woods/Tweeter/Shedsville
