Yes this weekend is time for the race that is unparallel in history, excitement, and spectacle racing. I am talking about the 90th running of the Indy 500. I am going and I am curious to know if anyone is going to be there too. I will be in the infield by turn two.

Not going. Went once when I was a kid....my parents got me to all the big ones when I was little....the Indy 500, the Kentucky Derby, the 1975 World Series.

There was an Indy car parked on 48th St. outside the Fox News Building when I was walking to the office this morning. I don't follow any kind of car racing so I don't know whose car it was, it had a big #1 on the nose and Vonage was one of the sponsors.

I won't be there this year, but I have been to MANY races there.
The best were the years we were on the grassy strip between the pits and the track at the start of the race. Those cars are LOUD when you are standing about three feet from them!

Never been to a race, but would love to some time.

I was in Indy this weekend, but at the Indy zoo performing. Dear lord that's ALL that was on TV, talk of the race.

I've lived in Indiana for 36 years and have never seen even 1/2 the amount of coverage before.

Nope- did it once, no need to do it again. But Dad did take Tom for an Indy 500 experience yesterday- VIP suite and pit passes. Sounds like they had a great time.

We've been out at the track off and on for most of this month, but I avoid Speedway on race day. Been there and done that too many times. If ya have time after the race before you head home, head on up to Noblesville for a burger. We're actually having quite a little of a party. PM me if you can make it.

Disney used to sponsor an IRL race every year ( for a few years) at WDW so I got to work it once when I used to work there. It was pretty cool but I'm sure it can't hold a candle to Indy...

I've only missed it twice on TV or radio since 1963, never been to the race but will before I die. Love to be back home again in Indiana, Marion.

Never been to the 500, but I have been to the USGP.

Sunday is a great racing day, even though CBS is trying to screw it up.

Monaco, Indy, and the 600. Beautiful.

but, CBS is showing the Grand Prix, TAPED, at the same time as the Indy 500. That sucks. But, I have PIP!

My Predictions, I'm picking all my favorites

Monaco - Michael Schumacher
Indy - Dan Wheldon
600 - Tony Stewart

I'll solve your schedule conflict problem...just come to Indy to watch the races...it's the only place in the world that doesn't get the 500 on TV live...they still do that evening re-broadcast here.

Yup, tons of race publicity around these days. They still struggle to sell out and reach the former glory ever since Tony George (track owner) forced the IRL/CART split several years back. He's eventually won the battle (with CART) but lost the war (to NASCAR). With all the rain this month, I've missed not being able to hear the cars from the golf course a few miles away.

Anyway, it is quite a spectacle...I've been a few times but don't make a habit of it.

Enjoy the race, Flocker. The current forecast is 85 and mostly sunny. Hot, hot, hot!!
