I used to go quite often in the spring. I'd get a decent tan so I could lay out after the pools open without roasting myself. Nowdays I try to go 2 or 3 times before I head to FL in the spring for the same reason. I really don't like to go, baking in a box where hundreds of other strangers have left pools of sweat has started to get to me. Fortunately, our pool opens this weekend :D

I have done it quite a few times even though I live in Florida.
I have not done it in quite some time and don't feel I need to since I seem to be hitting the beach and other outdoor activities more than I used to.
Most of the time I just have a farmer's tan though due to nonstop topless cruisin'.
"If" I wanted to have a great tan I'd do it that way rather than waste hours in the sun trying to get it.

Same here!! My choices are skin cancer or serious depression all winter. Hopefully moving from MD to sunny SC will help!

I don't tan often, in fact haven't been to the salon yet. However, I will sit outside for an hour or two with SPF 29 a few days a week. Thank God my mom (red head/fair) married my dad (greek/dark olive skin). So I do tan without burning.

Bad BAd BAD!

Like SP, I have had skin cancer from the sun.

What looked like just a small "infection" - ended up being a rather large cut in my neck/shoulder and a large scar - cause they have to dig DEEP to get these things out.

I hardly spent any time in the sun as a kid - never did like it, but got sunburnt a few times and this is what happened.

I am guessing I would not be breathing today if I had spent summer getting a tan .............
