We've switched to "Free" everything for that reason. The kids both have extremely sensitive skin, Tony especially.

Tide or Cheer-either one. Liquid, of course.
And Clorox bleach for the white stuff.

Have used liquid for years & years. I was told once by a septic system guy that liquid is better than powder for my septic tank. Don't know if he was right or not. Use Gain, Surf or All. Tried Arm & Hammer once..it made my son break out in little bumps all over his upper torso, so never used it again.

I use Arm & Hammer (I agree about getting smells out - mom finally found this years ago after trying many brands but nothing else could get out the smell of my brother's basketball practice clothes that he left heaped in his room for weeks at a time before finally getting them to the laundry room under threat of severe punishment!), or Trader Joe's liquid detergent.

Tide liquid with April Fresh scent and Tide with April Fresh scent dryer sheets!

I just recently picked up some Gain Tropical scent stuff....OMG, never again. It definately smelled better in the bottle. It made my clothes smell like they had been sitting in the washer for a few HOT days. :-?

Tide Free, though the lovely wife washed my towels in her Tide with Febreeze and I had to immediatly take a second shower.
