one of the best songwriters alive today. check him out. http://www.fredeaglesmith.com

If you would like a CD to buy, pick up "drive in movie" 1st.

We saw him here in Jax in 2004 and 2005, he usually plays here after the McClinton Cruise but he skipped us this year  Maybe in 2007.
Definetly an excellent show with some great stories, his backing band has some talented folks too.

Definetly worth checking out.

First time I saw Fred he was sitting in with Guy Clark, Verlon Thompson, Slaid Cleaves, and Todd Snider in a writers circle in Round Rock, TX at the Old Settlers Music Festival.

One song he did was a Dar Williams song, Wilder Than Her. Too fun! Always enjoy his shows.

Drumkat, you must have been on 20 Odd Hollers. I'll go pull that out and take a look. I haven't listened to any Fred stuff in a while.

Would that be a good starting point for his material? I am booked on a train across Canada with him in November. I'm going along since the Cowboy Junkies are headlining but he's one of the support acts. I definitely want to get more familiar with his material.

I'm not familiar with all of Freds music but that was a great place for me to start. It is a double cd and includes a lot of the favorites.

Drive in movie is really his "best" album. That's what he tells people to purchase if they've never heard is CDs before. That gets them hooked. his new CD is REALLY good. Check it out here
