I suspect you'll have to dress for dinner...I doubt you can get it in carry out... :o [/color]

Moonie,
Not a problem. I assure you that I am perfectly capable of "dressing for dinner." I don't take ALL my meals here on "Redneck Row."

.

And it's caviar, with an "a" at the end.
OH! my...I was not in any manner insinuating that you didn't know how to dress for dinner...I avoid any place that would require one of us to wear a tie..because I assure you...I'm not going to match what they have on to go with the tie...(unless they let you wear one with shorts??, and supply the tie)

I don't do much carry out and avoid fast food joints ...but I have been in places that might serve this...although I can't say I've seen it on the menu... :-?

Yeah..I knew I spelled it wrong...didn't have time to correct it...an exploit virus decided to pay my computer a visit...don't you think, though, that caviar is some pretty nasty smelling stuff? a bit strong, for me...and I've been around it quite a bit... :wench:

Well...excuuuuuuuuuuuuse me.. 8)

Oh yeah...and what the Romans did?....well..they fed the Christians to the lions...so I'd imagine you'd find all sorts of...odd things on their plates...

you're probably going to pay more for your duck liver now, too.. :o

Moonie?? I know (or I think I do :) ) that you don't watch as much TV as I do . Fois Gras is becoming More popular ( as well as veal)
via shows like Iron Chef People are more and more apt to
try and see how the "Other" half lives..

I don't know how much tv you watch..but...it's probably more than I do, yes...

as far as the "other" half...that's a bit off base, don't you think...you seriously think the "other" half can pay $20 for 2 oz. of...duck liver? hmmm..what would it take to feed a family of 4?
What I am talking is about wage earners taking a peek into the "other Half" and where I work I hear quite often things like
"well dinner for the two of us was 200$ but..."
and yes I am a wage earner.

Iron Chef? Are there people that ...really cook like that?...what few times I've seen it, it's totally professional gourmet....I'd say not too many people are really into that... gourmet, yes..but these guys are professionals...I would believe that particular show is more entertainment than reality...I don't think I've ever seen Emeril doing the duck thing...not Fois Gras.
I ues ideas fom I/C so do a lot of the pholks I work with

eating.. internal animal organs...is not healthy, anyway...(ask J. Dahlmer) MMM heart. Liver,Tongue....

You know...if you only look at a duck or goose as something to be eaten you're missing out on free entertainment....I think they're pretty cool to watch...and I truly enjoy when the wild ones migrate..
Oh yes fun to watch but never the less good to eat.

a ducks brain is the size of a...walnut? Is it balding and smokes a cigar?
and again Moonie I do know my politics are not the "norm"

Ahhh Bumper Dude, you live in California, apparently the only thing abnormal there (or at least in parts of the state anyway) is anyone that is (or would be considered) normal elsewhere. 8) :D

Let's see they pass this law and they start raising the ducks in Mexico at 1/20th ( or more) of the current price, it increases profit margine, it employs Mexicans, puts Americans out of work. There are no serious laws regarding treatment of the ducks being treated humanely there. HELL..Sounds like a good idea. The way American comapanies move out of theStates these days. Here is a fine opportunity to put more Americans out of work. Someone find out who is raising and selling these ducks and lets buy stock in those companies if they move to Mexico. That way at least someone makes some money out of the deal, then we can give the former duck "farmers" /"ranchers" a few bucks when we see them out on the street

Like usual it is the American workers that get screwed (and usually by our/their own goverment). No one is going to stop eating it. America is not the only place in the world that has restaurants and when the goverment starts telling me I cannot eat a legitimate food item, I have a problem with the goverment becoming abusive, intrusive, and invading and violating MY RIGHTS! Certainly there are more important things for the goverment to take care of rather being concerned about what I eat.

I highly suggest everyone read the book LOST RIGHTS: The Destruction of American Libertys by James Bovard. You should be able to find it in paperback.
No nothing to do with ducks or their livers but IT DOES have A LOT to do with this sort of legislation.

I guess I might as well add my two cents. I think it's great that there are people who are able to champion a cause. And while I don't wish anything torture or undo pain; that won't stop me from enjoying my burger, veal, or whatever. I just think that they should find another cause.

There are children in this country who will never learn to read, or will go to bed hungry tonight. There are others who don't have homes to sleep in; and still others who can't afford simple health care. If you are going to be a champion, champion them.
