One night in Atlanta. . .
I have to share this with my BN buds because y'all are the only people that will truly appreciate the tragedy and disappointment.
My birthday was Thursday. I was completely siked about spending the weekend in Atlanta at the concert and meeting a few fellow BN'ers. Due to work issues with Mr. Irishcajun, we weren't going to leave until Friday at noon. Making the best use of my morning to get ready for the show, I went and got a spray tan and a bikini wax. The results were fantastic. It was well worth all of the pain. I race back home to collect my hubby so we can get on the road. He is delayed by 2.5 hours because some woman needed to go to Pakistan. He's a travel agent. If someone wants to go to Pakistan, he'll hook them up. It just delayed our departure.
When he finally got home and was ready to set out for Atlanta from Nashville in the rain, my gut told me to stay home. I know better than to go against my gut feeling. However, he was hellbent for leather that he was going to get me to the concert for my birthday. Hellbent hubbies overrule strong gut feelings. We made it to Atlanta right at show time. It was rainy. We didn't have tickets. I was in the funk to end all funks because I wanted to try to get a copy of the novel to Jimmy and my hopes were dashed. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse. . .
The lady behind us at the red light couldn't stop in time on the slick roads. She crashed into the back of "Lola Nadira" my pride and joy ebay BMW. So, I spent my night waiting for Atlanta's finest to arrive to write up the report. I didn't get to see or hear the show. I didn't get a copy of the novel to Jimmy. I didn't get a t-shirt for my collection. I have a wrecked car. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.
The moral of this story is: Listen to your gut and not your husband.

I am very thankful that no one was seriously injured. I have a very sore shoulder, but it could be much worse. The lady who hit me only had liability insurance. Her car is totalled, but "Lola Nadira" will be driven back to Nashville for repairs, atleast I know she can handle an impact. I just didn't want actual proof!

You didn't make it to the concert, did you? Or did you?irishcajunphan wrote:We are still in Marietta currently. I didn't want to drive back in all of the rain last night. We'll be heading back to Nashville soon with a stop in Chattanooga for BBQ. How exactly do I claim a missed Buffett concert on insurance forms?

I am pretty sure you can claim the price of your tickets against the insurance company...do you know who her insurance is with?irishcajunphan wrote:We did not make the show. It took 1.5 hours for Atlanta's finest to get to us to do the report. I got back in the car to come back to the hotel just in time for encores on Sirius.

We are with USAA. They are pretty fair and send your car to some good places to be fixed. Sadly we know from experience...if you explain that you want to be reimbursed for not making it to the concert, I bet they will pay you for your tickets. They get off easy compared to any injuries...irishcajunphan wrote:Her insurance is with USAA which handles insuring our fine soliders. Her husband is a veteran. For all of the disappointment and aggrevation, I did meet some very nice people.

Oh Nikki - I'm sooooooooooo sorry
Thank God you and hubby are all right. That women's intuition thingy is huge!!!!!!
My only suggestion is to go see a doc.......you say your shoulder hurts, you need to get it documented in case it turns into something else. Another thought - since you were trying to "pimp" your book - some of the expenses you've incurred could be tax deductible.
Of course the only thing that is important is that you're OK!!!!!!
