We woke up about 1AM to the sound of loud banging on our door. This guy was turning around in our culdesac and saw a fire on the side of our house. It looks like someone poured lighter fluid on my plastic hose reel and set it on fire. It's close to the wooden fence on that side of the house, and the fire had started spreading up it. Another foot and the wooden eve under the roofline would have caught on fire too. Luckily the hose wasn't completely melted and I was able to put the fire out pretty quickly.
I don't think I have anyone trying to get back at me for anything, so it was probably just some kids out messing around. An officer came out and he's checking out the area in case any other houses were vandalized, so we'll see. I'm only out $50 for the hose and the reel, but somebody almost set my house on fire while we were sleeping.
WTF?!

That is NOT even the least bit humorous, funny, etc. If they find who did it, they need to throw away the keys...
I had two friends die in an arsen fire a few years ago. It was an apartment complex and this chick was trying to get back at an ex-boyfriend who lived there on VALENTINES DAY. She set something on fire on a balcony and the whole complex went up. Four people died in the fire, my friend ryan and his girlfriend Donna...Donna's sister and their other friend. The three girls shared the aprtment and Ryan had been over for V-day....

Do you have sensor lights? After our house was broken into, my dad installed them. Not little ones. No... like the stadium kind. On every side of the house. They work pretty good, nobody wants to be doing something bad in the spotlight.

Thank goodness that guy was in the right place at the right time to let you know.
That being said, did that guy stick around to help you and stay until the police came? Just wondering why he was there at 1am...faith or ?
Motion lights are going up this weekend if not sooner.
The dogs were in the kitchen at the opposite corner of the house. They slept right through it too.

If all goes well there will be 5 in our family soon, so Four Play doesn't really fit anymore. We're officially Mr. and Mrs. Play from now on. It makes me sound all grown up, so I figured my birthday was as good a day as any.

Glad you and your family are safe.
He stayed to make sure I got the fire out. In my half-asleep state I didn't think to ask him any questions until he was gone. I just told him thanks and he left.

I assume you called the police????
Yeah, I called the non-emergency number and they came out pretty quick. I didn't ask for a police report since the damage was so minor. I just wanted them to check out the area in case any other houses were hit.
