Blue Collar reference

Post by Phinsup2! »

I was watching the Blue Collar Comedy Tour "One for the Road" on Comedy Central last night, and Ron White made a brief reference to Jimmy. Certainly no big deal, but just proof that his name turns up nearly everywhere these days!!!

It was something about how Ron and his wife were vacationing down in the Carribean. I'm paraphrasing, but he said something like "you know down there is where Margartaville is, where Jimmy Buffett wrote all those songs about..."

He was talking about a show in Fort Myers, Flordia. He and his wife decided to go to Sanibel Island to do some sight seeing. He described Sanibel as a real "Margaritaville" and even claimed that Jimmy Buffett lived there when he "wrote all those songs". The joke had to do with a very small bridge that has a 5 MPH speed limit. He said he got a ticket for going 11 MPH. Pretty funny stuff, but I think his Buffett facts may be a little off. We should give him a little creative license. He was just trying to give people a feel for the island, and I understand what he was trying to say. I'm sure someone on this board can tell us:

1) Did JB ever live on Sanibel Island?
2) Where did JB write Margaritaville?
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

I think he was talking about Sanibel and Captiva. He said that is was practically Margaritaville because Jimmy lived there when he wrote the song. (?) Then he went on to plug the Don Sazar hotel six times and complain about the rickety toll bridge onto the island.

I guess the Hotel will pay his bridge toll from now on.

Yeah...that was a kind of cool reference for me too...The Don Cesar is in St Pete Beach, and I had a friend who was an entertainer there so I spent a LOT of time there. It is quite a place. It looks like a pink castle.
