Yuppies buy the expensive ones, hippies steal them.

I dunno, I think maybe people should be able to b**ch about the high cost of tickets; after all, there's a large segment of the fanbase (myself included) that can't justify the expense. I'm not at the Pittsburgh show tonight, much as I'd like to be, but I'm enjoying it on RM - and wishing tickets weren't so expensive.

I stubbed my toe, and it's all Jimmy's fault... he made me do it by raising ticket prices... I don't think I want to be a Parrothead anymore

Of course people have the Right to b**** about the prices. Just as they have the Right to b**** about the price of anything else.
Perhaps it troubles some and forces them to question a few things about the dream Jimmy offer us. They don't want to hear it anymore than they want to hear the price of gas just went up to $10.00 a gallon.
They find a way to pay for it and say screw anyone that has a problem with the price.
Hell I do take the money saved from the in my opinion, overpriced tickets and I don't care who is playing, or that other bands charge substantially more. THAT IS IRELEVANT! After seeing the Stones on tv at the Super Bowl Game....well a sucker and his money are soon parted....
So there is definitely a class system being established among the parrotheads....... Those that say," Well there is always the lawn, for the poor." and reminds of the famous person (that was beheaded) about alledgedly saying " Let them eat cake."
As for the lawn seats being cheap... what about venues that do not have lawn seating? Are there places there for the poor to "eat cake"?
WTF is going on? Are some parrotheads snobs or what? It is seeming that way in several responses here.
So if you are happy because someone else cannot afford to go, or will not go, because they cannot afford or justify the expense, then what are you? Are you estatic with joy? Are you overcome with happiness? If you can express your happiness then why can't someone else express their bitterness and sadness?
Did those poor people tell you to shut and go away?
As long as some will pay any price, then the price will continue to climb. So just what is the limit one is willing to pay? That is for the individualto decide.
I can have several parties and great times at my house, or another place or two,, with no waiting lines, no bathroom waits, no drive and no traffic to worry about, and I don't have to worry about missing any songs.......I can always rewind or hit replay......Oh yeah no $5.00 hot or warm something tried to pass off as beer either and I can have my camera and my bottled water.
I am proud of all those that continue to pay exhorbitant prices that others cannot justify or afford. They are doing well and can afford it. It is their money to spend as they choose. They earned it, they can choose what to do with it....."Let them eat cake." They can afford it.....

Let's see, you have 6 posts and I think this is the 3rd time you've used the "pad my pocketbook" line. Since performing in concert is Jimmy Buffett's job, apparently you equate someone getting paid to do their job with padding their pocketbook. If you feel that way I can only assume that you refuse to accept a paycheck for your job and you work for free. Or if you do get paid, you refuse all raises because that would be padding your pocketbook.

There were a TON of tickets for sale in the parking lot...and the idiots that were
still asking for more than face ate their tickets.
Walking into the concert, though, people were begging to get rid of their tickets....

Given the money artists are losing because of all the free P2P file sharing and downloading online they are making up that lost revenue by cranking up the cost of seeing a live show. Can't really blame them for that.

Call it what you will, but there are thousands and thousands of people who are getting more than their money's worth.

I agree that you should be able to, and I appreciate folks like you who do it respectfully!
I would be willing to pay less or nothing for tickets, but I don't mind paying what they ask either. I get a bang for my buck, and it's always a value considering the wonderful memories that I get to keep forever.

Considering what tickets for some of the other concerts go for, $126.00 to see Jimmy Buffett really isn't bad at all.
And I think it's safe to say I HAVE gone to other concerts, paid more, and gotten less.
So if every Jimmy Buffett concert that I go to from now on costs $126.00, I won't complain.

Lots of opinions here, so I thought I would share. I am saying this not to step on anyone's toes since we are all wearing flops.
I started seeing buffett in 1992 and paid $20 for a lawn seat. 14 years later on Sunday I paid $45 (face value), seems about right to me. The premium/reserved seating has always cost more. I think there is an issue with the venues too, all reserved seats are $126, that means that if you get back row by the lawn, you are paying way too much. I have a rule for reserved seating, if I can't get in the first 30 rows then I buy lawn. Simple as that and that is MY choice. I have also seen Jimmy inside and paid less than lawn seats, much further away too. I have paid $15-18 to seem him in nashville, tn in 1997. I have also paid alot more for inside and to be further away at $100 because it was "club level"
So I have learned over the years, if I am not close to the stage on the GROUND level, then I am paying for the cheapest seats in the house, I have even sat behind the stage numerous times at the Ice Palace.
Also have seen lots of sporting events where I have paid way too much for tickets, even face value. My comparison of this: I am not guaranteed a good time unless my team wins. At a buffett show ITS GUARANTEED that I will have fun. Buffett is my vacation, and as posted above tickets are cheap compared to my tailgate, hotel and gas expenses. And again, buffett airs all his shows for FREE on the internet. Not a bad deal if you ask me. Sure he makes alot of money, but his last show in Charlotte, he earned those dollars. THANKS Jimmy...
