need some info needed /question
I know people mainly (college students) and other people have built "aluminum can" furniture. I have an idea for something and need to keep them together.
The info needed/question ...is what do you use to hold the cans together to keep them from falling apart? Or how did you keep the cans from falling apart?
I have thought about silicon or "electric/hot glue" but not sure how well it would hold up.

I tried using Liquid Nails on metal before. The results were unimpressive.buffettbride wrote:not that i know of such things, but liquid nails maybe??
When I called the 800 number they told me that Liquid Nails requires evaporation to properly cure, so it is only recommended for porous surfaces.
There is thing called 'liquid solder'. It comes in a tube like glue. I used it for a craft, but I can't vouch for its strength.
Maybe some kind of epoxy...?

If it's not too too big, you can use any number of jeweler's epoxy/jeweler's glue designed to hold metal and metal alloys. You can also pick up heavy grade epoxy like that at places like home depot. The jeweler's grade works wonderfully for things that I need to hold shape with, like headpieces or wings.
You just need to be very, very careful with some of them, as they are in separate tubes until you're ready to use them and once mixed, they will pretty much adhere anything, and if you get it on skin, you'll need to go to the hospital (I recommend heavy gloves and old clothes).
If you need names or places to get something like that, let me know.

Thanks Guys and Gals!!!land_shark3 wrote:Gorilla Glue... best stuff I've ever used.
Dab some water on one side and a LITTLE glue on the other and you are all set. I say little, because it does expand.
Thanks LS3,
I have to get some "Gorilla Glue" and try it!!! I have not heard of it! I have some JB Weld but that seems a tad expensive.
I also just remembered I have something called "Liquid Steel". It comes in a tube and you cut off a slice and roll it together, until a consistant color, and dab it on. It DRIES QUICK and is durable. In 15 mins or so you can sandpapser it to snooth it off. I have used it to patch small leaks in a jon boat and a couple of other things. I forgot about having it.
Sy Thank you, I need something a bit more durable than the headpiece type stuff. HOWEVER I will keep that in mind for future projects and I may have to ask you for more info!!
Thank you again!
Wayne,
Bro I love their show.and if anyone would know, it would be those guys and their team!!
Thanks Bro!
