And like has been said - aren't there more IMPORTANT things going on in this nation than trying to place restrictions on love. I mean after all isn't that what marriage starts out with?

I agree this is just a political smoke screen to cover up more important issues in society because of the up-coming elections next fall.

All I know is that if gay marriage is ever legalized in Washington - Don's got several people he's gonna marry.

:o :o isn't Don already married???

or basically, 20% on the fringes like now, with 60% in the middle busy trying to live their lives day by day. and that is where both parties try to shave and shave and shave until they have their 20%, and 30% of the center, plus a little more.

OMG. Did you really call it the "gay thing"?????
If that's what my post said, then apparently I did. I'm in an environment where I actually need to be PC, my terminology is usually much worse...

Yeah, I know, I'm a dick sometimes...

So you have no problem being a dick, but you wouldn't want to marry one?

If some Republicans, the Religous Right, and some Democrats are so worried about protecting marriage why dosen't the Government try and outlaw divorce? I think over 50% of marriages end in divorce. Can't blame the Gays for that one. Why they are at it they could make adultry a crime. Wonder how many of these moralists would find themselves in hot water?

Seriously, if you are trying to say two people of any race, religion, sex or anything else can't be in love and marry, you're just wrong.
BB, PG and Coconuts thanks for the support on my answer.
I haven't given an opinion either way.
You made a blanket statement and I thought it needed to be qualified.

How many times in recent months/years have we seen the government sticking their noses into the private lives of the citizens? Here is another example! Don't we as a nation have better things to focus our attention on than this? This is just an attempt on the "far right wing nuts" to force their
opinions or beliefs on us. I see it as a huge waste of time!

No problem Rick.....this subject has a very personal thing for me....I have a brother that is gay and he is married.....and VERY happy.....They were married in Ma.....

my sister...who is also gay has been w/the same partnerfor 13yrs have 2 daughters and they are probably happier then most hetrosexual couples that I know......

So I guess it just makes my skin crawl when people think it is so wrong....they aren't any different then the rest of us....and they have rights

Can someone please explain to me exactly why the "union of a man and a woman" needs "protecting"? How does two men getting married across town put your marriage at risk? I'm missing something.

Please don't hate me, but I think it's incredibly funny that your parents had to go through not 1, but 2 children coming out.

After the 2nd one, did they just turn to you and ask if you had something to share with the class, too?
