I am torn as well. I am glad that this POS is gone and cannot plan/carryout any more attacks. But wishing death on someone, and rejoicing when it occurs just runs counter to everything I was taught growing up.buffettbride wrote:I hate feeling happy when someone dies.![]()
B/c that is the way politics works. People will see this as progress (as I do, but then again I am Republican). I still wish Bush or anyone for that matter would do something about immigration, but sadly I think that is just a pipe dream, no matter who is in office.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:not sure why it would. it doesnt change the mistakes of the past, or the partisan politics he is still playingMelliJellyBean wrote:well maybe this will finally boost Bush's approval rating.

So as I was pondering this today it struck me that this is one of the most fundamental differences between us and them. Us being those who feel even the littlest bit uneasy about gloating over death, and them being those who regularly and wantonly scream for the murder of anyone.
We see that every human life can have some worth, and thus are worthy of defense and justice. They see only some lives as being worthy of protection and the remainder can and must be gotten rid of.
Just my ramblings on a Thursday afternoon of what are the real differences between the two societies.
well, i've never heard that. but he did get accepted into yale as a "C" student. i remember hearing on the news that he was 500+ people back on the waiting list and suddenly got "bumped" up.carolinagirl wrote:Jumping into the fray~buffettbride wrote:or the fact that he's just plain dumb and funny looking.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:not sure why it would. it doesnt change the mistakes of the past, or the partisan politics he is still playingMelliJellyBean wrote:well maybe this will finally boost Bush's approval rating.
He got higher grades in Harvard than John Kerry AND Al Gore.
And I think he looks a little like Johnny Carson!
~ jumping back out of the fray!
Please note my corrected post. Bush and Kerry went to Yale. Al Gore was in the bottom, not half, not third, not quarter, but the bottom FIFTH of his class at Harvard two years running.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:well, i've never heard that. but he did get accepted into harvard as a "C" student. i remember hearing on the news that he was 500+ people back on the waiting list and suddenly got "bumped" up.carolinagirl wrote:Jumping into the fray~buffettbride wrote:or the fact that he's just plain dumb and funny looking.12 lb. nestle crunch wrote:not sure why it would. it doesnt change the mistakes of the past, or the partisan politics he is still playingMelliJellyBean wrote:well maybe this will finally boost Bush's approval rating.

gore may have been in the bottom of his class, it still doesnt undermine his intelligence. he was probably like most college kids and wanted to have a good time. gore's IQ is well into the 150's, with clinton's at 172-ish.
nevertheless, ill leave it at that. its not a topic worth argueing
no doubt he was evil incarnate, but as a culture, we're not instinctively taught to celebrate death. we avoid it all costs.RAGTOP wrote:I'll make the exception for someone who be-heads other human beings for sportgreen1 wrote:I am torn as well.
