No fires here.....None.
We didn't even get them back in the 90's when half the state was on fire....
Must be that island thing??? No clue...
I know we had tons of smoke from Central Florida..and could see it across the river in Georgia...but nothing here.
Small Blessings....Hurricanes, but no fires...

If the current track does does not change it appears Alberto is goingto visit us. We are dead center of the track.
Hopefully all we will get is some much needed rains and some winds, no doubt some thunder and lightening, and that will be all. Probably lose power for a bit with trees going down.
Some tornadoes may be spawned but I hope not, and if they are, I hope the damage will be minimal.
Connie,
Hunker down and stay safe and dry over there!!

Sitting in my office directly on Tampa Bay I can offer this first hand report. Its raining.

The bay is pretty calm. No wind to speak of either therefore ..... No spray coming on to the bridges that I can see. May be a different story tomorrow morning. But people here are just keeping an eye out... no panic.
PS...Commute was a breeze for some reason......

To all in the path of the hurricane:
Please be careful, be safe, and know the rest of us are thinking of you and keeping you in our thoughts.
Stay in touch whenever possible, and if you're able call us by cell phone. Just let us know you're okay when the stuff starts hitting the fan, because you're all cared about so much, okay?

Looks like it was just upgraded to Hurricane status...increase in strength of winds.
they often do that though just before they come ashore, don't they...
and there are some idiots lost out in the Gulf...Coast Guard is looking for them, 9 people involved,, 5 adults and 4 children out since last night.
Bahama, looks like they think it's going to take a somewhat inland turn...you might get some outer bands...and much needed rain...

Its only moving 7mph?
That may lead to some low laying flooding.
Suppose to get a severe thunderstorm this afternoon...hope so..
WE NEED RAIN!
Luckily we don't have any trees to worry about here...although last year the storms that came through took out our gazebo.

There is no need to panic, just stock up on your neccessary supplies for yourself and your pets. Gas up and check the fluid levels in your vehicles, as best you can If you have a generator, be sure to have/get fuel for it too. I don't need to tell people what to get, just reminding them to get it IF they haven't gotten it by now.
If the power car out....probbably a lot trees coming down...You won't be getting any gas or buying much from any stores.
The graph I posted updates itself automaticlly so you can see the turn. Either way a still wide margin of error in the path.
It has made the turn to the North, so we probably won't get's "eye", if the path holds true. But we are on the strong side of it...
Be prepared for the flooding.....and washouts.....the ground being so dry the water will just run over it....
Here is Satellite Imagery of Alberto, It should update as well.

thanks tikit's, probably the biggest danger will be the trees that topple over from the wind as the ground becomes saturated...unless there is a tornado, or several...
other than the power might be off...for...a...while..YIKES!
but, we appreciate all good thoughts, it's been very cloudy and sprinkley off and on all day..

Thank you TikiT and everyone else. It is part of the price we pay for where we live.
We were out getting some last minute x-tra items and paying some bills.
There were a lot of people in the stores but no one seemed concerned about it, other than a few people that did not have access to TVs, none seemed the least concerned about it. Everyone wants the much needed rain though.
On Channel 4 out of Jax, John Gaughan (meteorologist/lead meteorologist? I am not sure which) is going to give us an idea of how much rain and what to expect in our area sometime in the next hour.
I don't expect it to be very bad...I have been through these many times before. Hopefully there won't be any tornadoes, and all will be well. I would like to think, most of the "severe" energy of the storm will have dissipated by the time it gets to us but one never knows.
