True Parrothead Test...

Post by Travis McGee »

Is there such a thing? it appears as if one needs to major in it Parrottheadology college to satisfy some people. So what if somebody's favorite Buffett song is "Margaritaville" ? I like that song too. Is it my favorite? I don't know, sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.
I hate this "true Parrotthead" stuff
I have seen Buffett over 100 times since 1980, but I don't consider myself a "true Parrotthead" I am a guy who loves the music, the life-style and the images that Jimmy writes about and sings about. Jimmy has been a huge influence on my life, from loving Travis McGee novels to where my son was born (Key West). I have been listening to him for most of my life and couldn't imagine a summer without him, but I don't feel the need to drink Corona and wear silly costumes to be a fan of the Man's music. If somebody likes SYKBH, for gosh sakes, let them.
Thanks and I hope I don't offend too many folks!

One would think that if I was going to be critical, I would at least get my "parrotheads" spelled consistently and correctly. My apologies...

I really prefer not to bestow the title of Parrothead on myself..
I leave that honor for others to tell me I am a PH..
not the other way..

Parrothead

Post by cleveland steamer »

I have to agree. I let other people call me a Parrothead. But I have to say that a Parrothead should be past SYKBH. There's just so much better stuff. Its more of a starter.

Perhaps it's as simple as one question......
Do you get it?

I also feel that to be a "true parrothead" that you do not necessarily need to be able to spell his name right. Dont flame me - but some people just cannot spell - does not mean they are any less a PH than you or me....

I had a friend years back - that after 10 years, still could not spell or write my name - and that was not without trying - she just had literacy issues.

I've even seen on this board, people called unworthy fans.

I don't think concerts would be very fun if it were just people from BN.

I was at Cheeseburger in Paridise last weekend and didn't even order a Margarita. Does that mean I'm not a PH?

Ugghh, I absolutely hate the phrase "True Parrothead". How about this? If you question whether someone is a true parrothead than you aren't one. Who cares which album your favoite song comes off of? Who cares what you eat, drink or wear? Who cares how much you go all out at a concert or not?

Who is judging this stuff anyways? Why are people bringing a rank system into this? You are more of a true parrothead than she is. But he is a truly true parrothead. It is stupid.

OK, that's my rant.

I think the only way you can prove if you're a "True Parrothead" is if you s*** brightly colored feathers.

I have pretty much avoided the term, as I have always associated it with bandwagon jumpers. The term didn't exist when I started this voyage and I don't need a name. Anyway, if I am a "True" anything, I am a "True Dork" and about 40 of y'all can now testify to that
