Apulia, Italy

Post by UpstateNYPH »

My Grandma is asking me if I want to go on a tip with her for 9 days to Apulia, Italy. Now, I know it would be stupid for me to pass this up, but my question is, has anyone ever been there or know anything about it? I have been researching it, and to be honest, I am debating if I should save my money and visit some more 'happening' areas of the country I have yet to see (Rome, Venice, etc). Would it be more beneficial for me to see those areas, or the rural quiet areas of Italy. My only other problem is this is a guided tour (my Grandma's kinda thing), and I try to stay off the beaten path. I always get to a country with a backpack and just go off. So, for someone who has have never been to Italy, any help would be appreciated. :D

We would be in these areas of Apulia:
Bari
Lece
Alberobello
Trulli Region
Salento Peninsula
Gallipoli
Otranto
Santa Maria di Leuca

Best wine comes from that region. I visit every other year. My grandmother lives in Brindisi, how could you skip over such a lovely and historical town. I'll be back in '07. Enjoy.

go no matter where the happening places are...if you dont go now and something (god forbids) happens to your grandmother and you cant make the trip with her you will always regret it. that exact scenario happened to me. remember you can only regret a non action.
if you cant laugh at yourself, laugh at someone else.

. .just think of the neat memories for you both . . ! !

My thoughts exactly. If she wants to take you somewhere, go and do it on her terms. In 50 years you'll be glad you did.
It was a pleasure and a hell of an evening
Truly was our night to win
But the authorities insist on my leaving
Take care my American friend
